Airline Seat Capacity Expected to Rise 12.7% in 4th Quarter
The HTA released its fourth quarter Airline Seat Capacity Outlook report, which forecasts continued growth through the end of 2012. A 12.7 percent increase is expected, largely thanks to double-digit increases from the U.S. mainland. "Air access and the availability of air seats to match demand are essential for a successful visitor industry," said David Uchiyama, vice president of brand management for the HTA. "We were pleased to see increases in nonstop air seats to the Hawaiian Island from all regions, which translates into more visitors and more expenditures to support our statewide and island tourism economies."

HTA recognizes the use of the 'okina ['] or glottal stop, one of the eight consonants of the (modern) Hawaiian language; and the kahakō[ā] or macron (e.g., in place names of Hawai'i such as Lāna'i). However, HTA respects the individual use of these markings for names of organizations and businesses. Due to technological limitations, this current communication may not include all Hawaiian diacritical markings. |
