New Hawai'i Soccer Tournament Kicks-Off Next Month
Some of the world's top soccer stars will be on O'ahu for the inaugural Hawaiian Islands Invitational, an international soccer event that will be held on Feb. 23 and 25, 2012, at Aloha Stadium. Through HTA's sports marketing program, we are pleased to support Major League Soccer (MLS) and ESPN Regional Televisions (ERT) inaugural tournament. The tournament will feature four games over a two-day period and will host the four teams, Melbourne Heart FC from Australia's A-League, Colorado Rapids from the MLS, Yokohama FC from Japan's J-League, and from the K-League - Busan I-Park from South Korea.

HTA Supports More than 100
Community and Cultural Programs and Events
The HTA, in partnership with Hawai'i's four counties, announced the selection of more than 100 events and projects to receive support through the HTA's County Product Enrichment Program (CPEP). CPEP was created in 2002 as a partnership between the HTA and the counties of Hawai'i. Through the program, the counties receive HTA funding for community-based activities, and provide administrative support and technical assistance to the community and industry partners.

Mahalo Month is an opportunity for Hawai'i's tourism industry to show its gratitude to the hard working travel professionals who help sell and promote the Hawaiian Islands. The annual Mahalo Month program, held this year from April 1-May 31, offers members of the travel trade special rates at participating locations to experience Hawai'i's beauty, unique culture and the aloha spirit. Participants will be able to experience the Hawaiian Islands first-hand to personally know the destination.

Efforts to Restore Waikīkī Beach Begin
Waikīkī Beach is a major attraction for visitors to Hawai'i; however, erosion has caused the shoreline to decrease. A three-month project to restore sand to the shoreline of Waikīkī beach has officially begun. The Hawai'i State Department of Land and Natural Resources, with the support of the HTA and Kyo-ya Hotels and Resorts, will restore sand to approximately 1,730 feet of Waikīkī shoreline from Kuhio Beach to the Royal Hawaiian Hotel, by recovering eroded sand from the shore and pumping it back onto the shoreline, widening the beach.
