Some of the world's top soccer stars will be on O'ahu for the inaugural Hawaiian Islands Invitational, an international soccer event that will be held on Feb. 23 and 25, 2012, at Aloha Stadium. HTA Supports More than 100
Community and Cultural Programs and Events

The HTA, in partnership with Hawai'i's four counties, announced the selection of more than 100 events and projects to receive support through the HTA's County Product Enrichment Program (CPEP). CPEP was created in 2002 as a partnership between the HTA and the counties of Hawai'i. Through the program, the counties receive HTA funding for community-based activities, and provide administrative support and technical assistance to the community and industry partners.

Efforts to Restore Waikīkī Beach Begin

Waikīkī Beach is a major attraction for visitors to Hawai'i; however, erosion has caused the shoreline to decrease.  A three-month project to restore sand to the shoreline of Waikīkī beach has officially begun. The Hawai'i State Department of Land and Natural Resources, with Waikiki Beach the support of the HTA and Kyo-ya Hotels and Resorts, will restore sand to approximately 1,730 feet of Waikīkī shoreline from Kuhio Beach to the Royal Hawaiian Hotel, by recovering eroded sand from the shore and pumping it back onto the shoreline, widening the beach.

HTA recognizes the use of the 'okina ['] or glottal stop, one of the eight consonants of the (modern) Hawaiian language; and the kahakō[ā] or macron (e.g., in place names of  Hawai'i such as Lāna'i).  However, HTA respects the individual use of these markings for names of organizations and businesses.  Due to technological limitations, this current communication may not include all Hawaiian diacritical markings.
