Please Be a Hero to Flood Victims
On Friday, August 12, Mystique Casino, the Diamond Jo Casino, and the Community Foundation will kick off the 2011 Recovery Fund to raise money for flood relief. There are two ways individuals and businesses can contribute to this effort to help local flood victims recover and rebuild from the devastating late-July floods.
Donate Donations will be matched dollar for dollar, up to $100,000! Funds will be distributed through area non-profit agencies and will directly support area residents who have been affected by the recent storms. There are three ways to give: - Text HERO to 27722 to make an instant $10 donation.
- Give online at www.dbqfoundation.org.
- Make your donation in person at: Eagle Country Market; Fareway Foods; any HyVee location; Hobby Lobby; Kennedy Mall; any Kwik Stop location; Sam's Club; or Theisen's Home-Farm-Auto. Several financial institutions are also accepting donations, including: Alliant Credit Union; American Trust & Savings Bank; Dubuque Bank & Trust; Dupaco Community Credit Union; DuTrac Community Credit Union; East Dubuque Savings Bank; Fidelity Bank & Trust; Health Services Credit Union; Liberty Bank; Premier Bank; Liberty Bank; and U.S. Bank.
Spread the Word The more people who give, the more people the 2011 Recovery Fund can help. In addition to talking to family and friends, here are three ways to help spread the word: - Radio Dubuque will be hosting a radio-a-thon on Friday. Call in to 563.690.0800 to let everyone know how you are supporting the 2011 Recovery Fund, whether through donating or volunteering.
- Visit the "2011 Recovery Fund - Community Action After the Storm" page on Facebook and click "like" to spread the word.
- Tell your Twitter followers you are contributing to the fund (#dbqhero) and encourage them to text HERO to 27722 to give $10.
