Special thanks to Ways and Means Director Derek Combs for going above and beyond the call of duty every day of ARF.

Trap Shooting Event

Wednesday, June 22 at 6:30 PM

Come join the Jaycees at the Potosi Sportsman's Club in Potosi, WI on Wednesday, June 22nd for trap shooting.

We will be starting at 6:30 PM and will try to car pool from Dubuque.  If you would like to carpool to the event, please meet at the Diamond Jo parking ramp at 5:30 PM.

Never shot a gun before?  No problem, we will have instructors on hand that will provide both firearm safety and basic shooting fundamentals. They will also be available to help guide you through your rounds.

This is a fun and exciting event for both new and experienced shooters alike. You may bring your own shotgun if you wish; otherwise, guns will be provided. Each participant will fire 15 shots in rounds of five. You may bring your own shells if you like, but shells are included in your 15 shots (only 12 gauge shells are available). Prizes will be awarded for the best scores.

If time allows, extra shooting may be available if you desire.

Plan on a stop at the Potosi Brewery afterwards for a cold refreshment.

Cost to participate is $5.00 per person.  Please RSVP to Chad Wagener at cwagener@dubuquebank.com by May 31st.  Feel free to contact Chad by phone with any questions at 563-542-7237.

June Individual Development Event

We have reached our limit with 32 people signed up, but if more people would like to attend, I can accept up to 8 additional people with the cap being at 40 people! Please let me know ASAP if you still want to attend!

Where: Park Farm Winery
Time: Sunday, June 26, 3:00 PM to 8:00 PM
Cost: $10 per person for the class. An additional $5 for Toast and Jam, which goes towards a glass of wine and/or bottle. A Park Farm wine glass will be included with the tasting class.

This event will allow us to participate in a wine and food pairing class. We will be able to sample 5 different wines, as well as learn what type of food goes well with each wine.

Our class will begin at 3. After the class, we will have a reserved section at Toast and Jam which features live music and goes from 5-8. We can bring chairs and snacks for Toast and Jam.

You aren't required to attend Toast and Jam, but thought it would be a great follow-up to the tasting class! If people would like to carpool to the winery, please contact me if you can be a driver.

Please RSVP by June 12 to Megan Stralow at mstralow@lamar.com or by phone at 563-581-9464.

Help People in Poverty on the Road to Success

Each year the Family Self-Sufficiency program at the City of Dubuque Housing hosts an event for people in poverty to help them prepare to re-enter the workforce. This year it is on Wednesday, August 10, from 3-7 PM at Prescott Elementary.

The event includes workshops on how to prepare for an interview, how to create a resume and cover letter, how to correctly fill out an employment application, and how to keep a job, as well as mock interviews for practice. After attending classes, participants can get a free, gently-used business outfit for future job interviews.

Volunteers are needed to keep the event running smoothly, including a mock administrative assistant to sign people in and direct them to the correct room for their interviews or classes. A highly organized individual is also needed to keep the interviews flowing, as well as to help with advising on professional attire.

If you are willing to volunteer, or have any questions, contact Diana Painter at 563-588-2700 or Diana@dbqfoundation.org.
