Thank you for volunteering for America's River Festival!
(Please note: We are still in need of volunteers for Saturday afternoon from noon to 5 pm.)
Times and Location
For those of you who are unfamiliar with America's River Festival, it is held in the Port of Dubuque in the McGraw-Hill parking lot (across from the Diamond Jo).
Here are the hours that the event site is open:
Friday: 5 pm to 12 am (Foghat and Chicago)
Saturday: 12 pm to 12 am (Starship and KC & the Sunshine Band)
Sunday: 12 pm to 5 pm
Entrance/Admission Bracelets
In order to get into the festival grounds on the nights of the concerts (Friday and Saturday), you will need an admission bracelet. I have a supply of bracelets. If you need one, please make arrangements with me to get them. You can pick them up, I can drop them off, or I can keep them with me until ARF and I can meet you at the entrance.
Volunteer T-shirts
Those of you who ordered shirts by volunteering with me prior to June 1st can get them at ARF. Unfortunately, they will not be ready too much in advance.
Set Up and During the Event
Set up will begin around noon on Friday. This will involve moving items from storage at 365 and getting them to the event site and then assembling tables and tents. Anyone is welcome to meet us down at the event site any time afternoon to help with set up.
Beer service will begin at the Main Tent at 5 pm on Friday, 12 pm on Saturday, and 12 pm on Sunday. Service at the American Trust VIP tent, the ARF VIP tent, and the Auxiliary Tent will begin at 6 pm on Friday and Saturday when the concert gates open to the public. On Sunday, only the main tent will be open. We will also have carts around selling beer during the concert. Worse case scenario is we "hock" beer in the crowds during the shows. Service at every tent, other than the Main Tent, will stop around 11 pm unless business levels dictate we serve longer than that. We must finish serving beer when the event site closes for the night.
We will only be selling beer (and Bacardi Razz) at this event. Beer tickets are $3 a piece and must be purchased from the ticket booth. We are not accepting cash at any beer tent. If you are hocking, however, you can accept cash or tickets.
As we get closer to the weekend and the possibility of using the rain site (Five Flags) becomes more of a reality, I will follow up with information about that location if necessary.
Keep an eye on
Facebook and
Twitter for updates or changes to the ARF schedule of events.
