A Letter from our State President
Dear Fellow Jaycees, By now, you have probably heard about the devastating tornadoes that hit Joplin, MO. I have been asked what we as Jaycees can do to not only help those dealing with the aftermath in Joplin, but the thousands of others that have been impacted by these severe storms since the beginning of the year. U.S. Junior Chamber President Joanie Cramer and Foundation President Raj Nadkarni have helped us set up a way that we can help as ONE. The U.S. Jaycees Foundation has a fund set up for disaster relief for those impacted by the deadly tornadoes that have ripped through our country. All donations are tax-deductible and100% of the funds donated will go to helping those in Joplin and other areas that are trying to rebuild their communities. You can donate in several ways: 1. Personally donate money to the U.S. Jaycees Foundation online at http://www.usjayceefoundation.org and click on the donate link. 2. Send a check made out to U.S. Jaycees Foundation with Joplin Tornado in the memo line and send it to: US Jaycees Foundation Attention: Disaster Relief Program - Joplin 7447 S. Lewis Avenue Tulsa, OK 74136 3.Host a chapter fundraiser to raise money to donate to the Foundation's Disaster Relief Program. All money raised can be turned in at the June All-State Convention in Clear Lake or at the National Convention in Chicago. All chapters that raise money for the Foundation's Disaster Relief will be recognized for their efforts at the All State Convention in June. Finally, I have included below a letter that has been sent to me by National President Joanie about the relief and fundraising efforts that are underway. Thank you in advance for your assistance in this endeavor! Best regards, Paul Crawford 83rd President Iowa Junior Chamber Cell: 515-771-7285 Email: president@iowajaycees.org Skype: pjciowa =========== Dear State President and Executive Team, In addition to the terrible earthquakes and tsunami overseas, this Spring we have had a number of tornadoes that have caused loss of life and property here in our own country. Since early April, the combined death toll has exceeded 450. Sadly, as the emergency crews continue to work in Joplin, MO, that number is certain to rise. The tornado that destroyed the southern half of Joplin last Sunday has affected members of our Jaycee family. Many of you have called, emailed and texted regarding the 46 members of The Joplin Jaycees. Missouri's President, Stephen Coffey, who used to live in the Joplin area, is currently in Joplin assisting with the relief efforts and contacting the chapter members. Due to the limited cell service available, it will take some time to get specific details. As we receive information, we will continue to keep you updated. Please pass along the information to your members, post on Facebook, Tweet, etc. The US Jaycee Foundation is accepting Tax Deductable donations. Checks can be made payable to the US Jaycee Foundation and can be mailed to USJC National Service Center 7447 S. Lewis Ave Tulsa, OK 74136 Please write "Joplin Tornado" in the memo line so the donation will be marked specifically for the tornado victims. We will also accept checks during the Annual Meeting in Chicago on Friday, June 10th, from any states, chapters or individuals who wish to present their checks in person. 100% of all money collected will be given to those devastated by the tornado. Please contact me if you have any questions. Please continue to keep the 46 members of the Joplin Jaycees, the citizens of Joplin and their families in your thoughts and prayers. Yours In Jaycee Spirit, President Joanie United States Jaycees Cell: (704) 728-9648 |
