Jaycees Action Alert!
There's a City Council meeting Tonight, April 4 at 6:30 and they're going to be voting on our Community Garden efforts...we would like to have a presence at this meeting; come out and support us! |

Community Garden Info
This Saturday April 9th, we are looking for some volunteers to help construct a deer fence around the community garden project at Veterans Park by the baseball diamonds.
Any and all help will be appreciated, as there are jobs for all skill sets and strengths (Yes you girls too).
We will be digging in 20 4x4 wood posts, pounding in 40 steel posts. Anyone with a sand shovel, spade, hammer, saw, or drill are welcome to bring them as common tools of the trade.
We will begin at 8 am and conclude in time for a tasty lunch. Many hands make enlightening work. Feel free to email me at mvorwald@webtechiowa.com with any questions regarding Saturday or the project in general.

April Individual Development Event
Are you looking for ways to get more fit? The plan to join us on Thursday, April 28th at the Dubuque YMCA for our wellness event!
We will be touring the YMCA facility as well as participating in a cycling class. Space is limited! The first 20 people to sign up will be able to participate in the event.
The tour will begin at 6:30 pm with the cycling class to follow at 7:15 pm. Please plan to meet at the front desk of the YMCA at 6:20 pm. NO CHARGE FOR THIS EVENT!

Relay For Life
My name is Alyson Tasker and I'm the Team Captain roll for the Dubuque Jaycees 2011 Relay for Life team. I'm proud to say it's the Dubuque Jaycee's 3rd year participating in Relay For Life, which will take place June 3-4, 2011.
Being on an American Cancer Society Relay For Life team is an amazing experience. Picture the scene: you're surrounded by your family and friends, urging each other on to make another lap around the track. The air is filled with the sound of laughter and sometimes tears, as our community celebrates those who have fought cancer, remembers the loved ones we've lost, and fights back against a disease that has taken too much from too many.
It would be an honor to have you on our team for this year's Relay For Life. The American Cancer Society is saving lives by helping people stay well, helping people get well, by finding cures, and by fighting back. Are you ready to join the fight?

US Jaycees 2011 National Convention
June 8-12, 2011 · Chicago, IL
If you would like to attend the Jaycee National convention, it will be taking place in Chicago this year. Cost for full attendance is $250 if you register by May 21st. There are day passes available, depending on what day you want to attend. Registration & hotel reservations will need to be made by you.
If you are attending, please send a copy of your registration to Liz Kirpes @ pfohlsmarketing@fbx.com to apply for funds. We have a limited amount of money set aside to help offset the costs of anyone wanting to attend. I must receive the fund request by April 21st. After that date, you will no longer be eligible.
