The Winter Iowa Games will be held in Dubuque January 28 - 30.  To kick off the Games we host an Opening Ceremony on Friday evening (January 28).

The Dubuque Jaycees group has been contacted to help the Winter Iowa Games for 2011. Since they are moving to a new venue they are going to be needing more help than they have in the past. This will be a great opportunity for our members to get a team of volunteers together and help with an exciting community event!

The Opening Ceremony has an Athlete Jamboree that is from 4:30 pm - 6:30 pm.  We have inflatable games for the kids.  The Opening Ceremony starts at 7:00 pm and lasts until 8:15 pm.  It is complete with a parade of athletes, entertainment and fireworks.  We are hosting the Opening Ceremony at Mystique Community Ice Center; with the new venue I am looking for additional volunteers to make this a smooth transition.  Typically we get around 1500 attend the Ceremony and over 4,000 participate in the Winter Games.

The volunteers will help with the Athlete Jamboree and Parade of Athletes.  For the Athlete Jamboree the volunteers would help the kids stay in line for the inflatables and hand out/apply Iowa Games tattoos.  For the Parade of Athletes volunteers would help line them up, hand out their athlete cards and then usher them to their seats during the Ceremony.  Time commitment would be from 4:30 pm - 7:30 pm.

Each volunteer would receive a T-shirt for helping and be mentioned during the Opening Ceremony for volunteering.
