Hello Everyone,
Every day we can look at the paper, turn the TV on, or bring up the news on the internet and we get bombarded with negative press, war in one country, famine in another, and earthquakes somewhere else. At times it's overwhelming. Media has a whole is taught to bring us the negative, not the positive. After all, they are going for ratings.
With the week of Thanksgiving upon us, I decided it would be better to look at the good that goes on here in our own back yard. The Junior Chamber stands by the philosophy of leadership development through community involvement. Over the years we have enabled the Jaycee Trail, better known as the River Walk to be installed, decorated the Washington Park, celebrated the Easter season with those less fortunate, supplied those in need with holiday gifts for their children, and for the past 25 years, provided one of the top Firework and Air Shows in the Nation. When I think about it, many of the projects we work at do not receive the press they deserve, but knowing in my heart the impact we have is felt throughout our community is sufficient, and something I am truly thankful for.
On top of this, in the past year we have seen growth of our chapter beyond what many would see possible, and greater than we have seen in over 5 years. Programming is going well and we have a new board for 2011 already working on some exciting plans for the next year. As an organization, we have a lot to be thankful for.
All the best during the Holiday Season,
Chris Puetz
