Calling on Women Leaders/Mentors!
Hello, I am Angela Grunder, Senior Program Manager for
Girl Scouts of Eastern Iowa and Western Illinois. I am writing to you because Girl Scouts in the Dubuque area are hosting a 100
Years of Leadership breakfast on June 2nd from 8-9am at the
HyVee on Locust. We are interested in bringing women leaders from the
community who may be interested in helping with Girl Scouts, but who may
not have a lot of time to commit. I'm e-mailing to ask if you or
any women in the Jaycees would be interested in attending this event. We are starting a mentor program for Girl Scouts
who are working on their Girl Scout Gold Award, the Highest Award a girl
can earn in Girl Scouting. We have found that girls often need someone
besides a parent to help keep motivated to complete the award. We also
know that girls sometimes need to find community resources that a mentor
could help foster. Girls really need someone that can give them a call
to ask how the award is going, just to keep them on the right track and
feeling motivated. Being a mentor to a girl will take very little time,
but it could help a girl earn the Gold Award, from which she can learn
important skills which last a lifetime. At our breakfast we will talk to all the women
attending about Girl Scouts, explain the Gold Award, and ask them if
they would be interested in being a mentor. Attending the breakfast does
not mean you must then mentor a girl if you do not think it is right
for you. We
do need an RSVP to this event by Tuesday, June 2nd so we can
ensure we have enough food for everyone. Please RSVP to me at this
e-mail AngelaG@GSEIWI.org or call 563-583-9169 and ask for Angela. I appreciate any help you can give me! Thanks for your time, Angela Angela Grunder Senior Program
