Monday, April 19- Relay for Life team meeting. We will be having a team meeting on Monday, April 19th at 5:30 at the Five Flags Center (enter at Locust St doors). If you are interested in joining our Relay Team, please come and join us. If you are not able to come, but are still interested in being on the team, please contact Alyson Tasker firebird_711@hotmail.com.
 

April 24-25th- Sandbox Fill, Saturday/Sunday April 24-25, 2010. This is a fun event we have brought back after 3 years, and the group has many sandbox orders to fill during this weekend. For the people who have signed up we are meeting at the Dubuque365 location at 401 Locust Street (Across from the Five Flags Center). Meeting dates/times will be,
Saturday April 24, 2010
7am-8am (Breakfast/Supplies Ready)
8am-3pm (Deliver Sand/Lunch)
Sunday April 25, 2010
10am-11am (Breakfast/Supplies Ready)
11am-3pm (Deliver Sand/Lunch)
*Note Times may vary based on order amounts/weather etc.
****Also anyone who has signed up or wants to help we need to know what day/days you prefer to help, and if anyone is interested in helping in being a driver behind the trucks to transport members to each location safe.

Thursday, May 13th - Dubuque Jaycees presents Beer Pouring 101 hosted by Kirchhoff Distributing, 5035 Chavenelle Rd Time: 6:00 pm
Please join us to learn how to pour a beer. By learning the correct way you save the chapter money and end us less covered in beer at the end of the night. Dubuque Jaycees Scholarship Presentation

The Community area of the Dubuque Jaycees is looking for members who would like to assist in the presentation of our Scholarship award to graduating students at our local High Schools. This is an excellent way to give back to our community, help students achieve dreams of higher education, and build future leaders who might become Jaycees someday! We already have members signed up for Wahlert, Hempstead, and Central. The group is still looking for a member to help at the following.

Upcoming Events/Deadlines from other Iowa Chapters

The Iowa City/Coralville Jaycees will be hosting a state wide Jaycees softball tournament on Saturday, July 17th.
Where: Coralville (tentatively)

Before we can host the event, we need to know if there is enough interest from chapters across the state. Please contact Tammy Welbes ruajc@yahoo.comif you are interested in having a team for Dubuque. Each softball team will play at least 4 games.

EARTH DAY Event - Thursday, April 22, from 5:30 to 6:30 pm Dubuque Art Center (DAC), Dubuque 2.0 and the City of Dubuque will host an Earth Day event featuring the closing of the Doors to Sustainability exhibit at the Historic Roshek Building, 700 Locust St.  The DAC will be present to help field questions about the exhibit, as well as to share a documentary about the Doors to Sustainability experience and provide information on their ongoing self-guided audio tour of the doors throughout area businesses.  Featured artists and sustainability experts will be on hand to discuss each door and its corresponding principle as well as to answer questions. The event will provide visitors with an opportunity to share information about their favorite "green" locations to assist in generating a community green asset map.  Citizens are asked to bring ideas about and locations of their favorite parks, trails, gardens, and sustainable businesses to assist in the creation of content for the asset map.  Any place or organization that applies to Dubuque's sustainability principles belongs on the map.
 
RAGBRAI Community Meeting
Tuesday, April 27|6-7pm, Grand River Center
 
On Saturday, July 31st, Dubuque will host 20,000 visitors as RAGBRAI® ends its week long bike ride in the Port of Dubuque. Plan now to be a part of this historic occasion!
