Just want to remind everyone that if you are interested in attending the Year End Convention the first weekend in February, that you need to contact Tammy Welbes.  See the "Convention Time" section for more information.


At this weeks upcoming General Membership we will be having a Silent Auction on the various items from the club house. Bidding will be open until 15 minutes after the meeting adjourns. The winning bidders must pay for and pick up their item(s) on Sat the 23rd when we officially will move out.
 
Items for auction include but are not limited to:

2 VCRS
1 DVD player
Kegorator setup
Several Fans
A window air conditioner unit
Old fashioned cars signed by Hawkeye players - 5

I also want to add that I've put the complete calendar of our events on our website.  Many of the entries don't have details yet because they still are in planning, but, if you are in need of a quick reference of what's planned for down the road for us, you can look at the calendar here.  I'll update the entries as I get information.

Upcoming Events 

Thursday, January 21st - General Membership Meeting at the Diamond Jo, Harbor Room, 301 Bell St.  Come and join us for our very 1st General Membership meeting at the Diamond Jo (Harbor Room).  Meeting will start at 7:30 and there will be plenty of socializing afterward.  Silent auction will conclude 15 minutes after meeting adjourns.  We look forward to seeing you there!
Reminder - Board members - Be there at 6pm to make up for the canceled meeting from the 7th.

Saturday, January 23rd - The Washington Park Holiday Decorations cleanup will be at 11:00am on Saturday, January 23rd. We will be removing the 2009 Holiday Decorations at Washington Park, and will pack them away for next year. We need all the help we can get to complete this task.  The more hands we can get to help out means less time everyone needs to be out in the cold. The group is still looking for a person with a truck who can help us transport the decorations to our storage area. Also, we can use a ladder or two to remove the decorations on street lights and park gazebo. Thursday, January 28th - Chili Cook-off Social - Please join us for our annual Chili Cook Off, 7:00pm at Stone Cliff Winery, 600 Star Brewery Dr.  Bring your crock pot filled with your favorite Chili Recipe. We will supply the bowls and spoons. There will be a cash bar for beer and wine.  Prizes will be awarded for the Hottest, the Beaniest, and Best Overall Chili.

Friday, February 12th - Mardi Gras Social February 12th at 7:00pm at Fat Tuesdays, 1121 University Ave. Come ready to party; it may be your last chance before Lent begins! We will provide the Appetizers and Mardi Gras beads. Also, feel free to dress up if the mood catches you.

It's Convention Time! 
Year End All-State is in Dubuque
February 5th & 6th
 
Year End All State Convention and Awards Banquet will be at the Holiday Inn in Dubuque this year!
 
Training will include personal enhanced training in the morning and then position specific in the afternoon. Cost is $70.00 for the full day of training and 2 meals. If you can't come for the full day then please come to the year end award banquet for only $35.00. Deadline to register with me is the 20th. Upcoming Events in Our Community
 
The Mississippi Valley Regional Blood Center has extended a special invitation to the Dubuque Jaycees to participate in a special blood drive to be held at its Donor Center on Monday, January 18.  To be eligible for this blood drive, you may not have donated blood after November 23, 2009.  The Mississippi Valley Regional Blood Center is the sole supplier of blood to patients at both The Finley and Mercy Medical Center in Dubuque.

The Donor Center is located at 4867 Asbury Road.  The Center will be open on January 18 from 2 to 6:30 pm.  For more information, or to make an appointment to give blood on January 18, e-mail Sharee Hoegerl at shoegerl@mvrbc.com.  Walk-in donors will be welcome that day.  Thank you for supporting your local blood supply by giving blood on January 18.
 
Obstacles to Peace between Israelis and Palestinians
Date/Time: Thursday, February 18, 2010 7-9pm
Location: Shalom Retreat Center, 1001 Davis St., Dubuque, IA
Presenter: Dr. James Bailey, Professor Emeritus, Wartburg Theological Seminary
Description: Dr. Bailey will begin with a brief summary of the history of the conflict. Then from the standpoint of the Israelis, Palestinians and U.S. involvement, he will discuss what he sees to be the current obstacles to peace between these two Mid-East groups. There will be time for questions and answers. It promises to be an enlightening evening.

Dubuque Night in Des Moines
Date/Time: Wednesday, March 10, 2010 6-10 pm
Location: Diamond Jack's @ the Iowa State Fairgrounds
Description: This annual reception brings hundreds of Dubuque community and business leaders together with Iowa's Legislators for an evening of fun in our state's capital city.
