CSS Begins Project Search in Roanoke

As school begins this year, a group of 6 students in Montgomery County have the wonderful opportunity to participate in Project Search, an internship program partnering Montgomery County Public Schools, DRS, Career Support Systems, and Carilion New River Valley Medical Center. The six students will spend each school day at the hospital. They will spend time each morning and afternoon in a classroom with their teacher and the rest of the day in different departments throughout the hospital completing internships. Each student will have the opportunity to complete three, ten-week internships during the school year. This is a wonderful opportunity for the students to gain valuable work skills and knowledge in a setting that is ever in demand. Corey Brown, an Employment Consultant with Career Support Systems is the job coach on site with the students. He is working with each department in the hospital to learn specific responsibilities and in turn works with each student individually to teach them their job responsibilities. Career Support Systems is honored and proud to be a part of such a wonderful project. |
