Severe Injuries Not Preventing This Claimant From Enjoying Prom

pic1
This claimant injured her cervical and lumbar spine, as well as a shoulder in an automobile accident in 2009. The claimant allegedly could not raise her arms and had neck/back injuries with continuing disability since the accident.

PROM3

Alliance pursued the investigation and through a lead, found out the claimant would be attending a school prom. Alliance followed the claimant throughout the day/night and was able to obtain access to the event. The claimant was observed dancing throughout the evening, first lifting her right hand and arm above her head and waving it around, then doing the same with her left. She was observed to raise her arms on numerous occasions while dancing and taking photos.

PROM2
As a result of the investigation, it was determined that the claimant showed no signs of physical restrictions resulting from the alleged injury and helped in refuting the claim.

Bucks County Man Charged in Workers' Comp Fraud
A Bucks County man was arrested following allegations that he filed for and collected workers' compensation benefits, while continuing to solicit and conduct business as a contractor.

William Thomson collected more than $68,500 in workers' compensation benefits after claiming that a November 2008 work-related back injury prevented him from working. While he was collecting these benefits and claiming he could not work, he was advertising and conducting work as a contractor under the name "Ceiling to Basement Repairs."

Ulster County Woman Sent to Jail for Lying About Inmate
pic1A Kingston woman, Mindy Berger, was arrested after a joint investigation by the NYS Insurance Department Frauds Bureau and the State Insurance Fund. According to the New York State Insurance Department, Investigators discovered that the Berger improperly filled out and signed an inmate's name on work status reports sent to the Insurance Fund while the inmate was in jail.

The reports falsely stated that the individual was not serving a jail sentence. The inmate then received $300 in benefits he was not entitled to receive. Berger will now go to the same jail after pleading guilty to possession of a forged instrument in Ulster County Court.
