Out in Oakland w/Brock Cocker

The days are getting shorter, there is a chill in the morning air can you feel it FALL is coming!  This is my absolute favorite time of the year.  Bust out those scarves, find your boots in the back of the closet and pull out your favorite fall 'fits it is time to be out in the streets!

This week in the Bay is going to be fantabulous!  Tonight check out the Ella Effect
in SF.  On Saturday start in SF at the Live DVD Taping of super funny lady Gina Yashere then end in Oakland at thePeople feat Valerie Troutt's Mooncandy ensemble.  On Monday check out Micia Mosely and Friends at Disco Volante.

Don't forget that Tuesday, September 25th is the deadline to get your short film for the fiveTEN 1st Annual Film Festival being held on October 25th at the Grand Lake Theater.  We have some amazing submissions so far so make sure you get yours in!

Josh Klipp and Footloose Present: "The Ella Effect", a celebration of the life and genius of Ella Fitzgerald. Did you know that Ella was a dancer before she was a singer? And that her brilliant scatting derived from imitating horns? For one night only, Josh Klipp and the Klipptones play a few of the tunes that defined Ella's magnificent career while a talented crew of local dancers bring them to life, beautifully illustrating Ella's approach to creating her own genius, i.e. "The Ella Effect".


The Klipptones feature: Steven Bergdall on piano, Ben Brown on drums, Jeremy Shermann on upright bass.

Dancers: Janey Madamba, Freeplay Dance Crew, Sarah Bush Dance Project, Rachel Baker, Mark T. Sebastian, and more.

fiveTEN LGBTQ Film Festival

CALL FOR SUBMISSIONS

 

DEADLINE FOR SUBMISSIONS is SEPTEMBER 25th, 2012   

We hope this message finds you well and in good spirits! fiveTEN is VERY EXCITED to announce our first annual LGBTQ Film Festival that will be held at the historic Grand Lake Theater in Oakland. The festival is geared towards showcasing local and regional talent in the film industry.  We are accepting both professional and student submissions so please pass on this information to anyone in your professional and social networks. 

We encourage all filmmakers to submit their work for consideration. Films and videos submitted must be one hour or less running time. We are looking for submissions of LGBTQ films/videos by, about, or of interest to lesbians, gay men, bisexuals, or transgendered persons of any genre. 

 

Shorts can be submitted in a secure online format. No mailing of DVDs is necessary! If you have a DVD or to submit in a secure online format please contact the fiveTEN LGBT Film Festival Coordinator Terry Sok via email at TerryS@510oaklandpride.com or for more information call Terry at 510.463.4436.
