Independence Day
July 2010
Did you know?

Have you ever wondered why American Soldiers wear the flag patch backwards on just the right side of their arm?

The basic answer is: They are brave!

This flag is symbolic of the men who used to march into battle with an actual flag. So steady and strong that the flag would blow behind them. On the arms of our soldiers, the flag faces as if being carried into battle, blowing behind them.

What's happening with NATURA?

Last month we talked to Natura's president and our Natura rep  and
here is what we "hope" we understood correctly:
1. Natura dry pet food will only be made in a Natura plant, it will not be outsourced for manufacturing.
2. Ingredients and suppliers will not be changed.
3. Pet food may end up in other larger Pet stores but will never be in a non pet specialty store (ie.grocery store).
4. Natura will operate like it always has (will be independent of P&G) but now it has more marketing dollars behind it and has a parent company.... See More
5. The big one that sums it all up is "Natura's nutritional philosophy" will not change!

Quote from a letter we received from Natura's president, Don Scott:
  • "Our approach to formulation and product design will remain the same, and we will continue to position our formulas on the cutting edge. We will continue to evolve and improve our market leading products. As part of this:
    • All Natura dry products will continue to be produced in our own plants.
    • Our ingredient selection philosophy will remain unchanged."
  • "Natura's nutritional philosophy will not change. The foundation of our success is rooted in our products and their performance. We will not compromise our standards."
We promised to keep you in the loop and  we will continue to do so if we hear of any changes. After all this being said, the decision is yours on what you feed your pet and you should feel 100% confident in what you are feeding!

We will continue to carry the Natura line, if anyone has any further questions, please ask, if we don't have an answer for you, we will get one! If you would still like to switch, we have plenty of brands to choose from and will help you find a food to meet your pet's needs.

We will always try our best to keep you posted on all the pet foods we carry! To get the latest news as quickly as possible on foods we carry (and recalls on foods we don't carry), join our Facebook Page!

Too Many Pets Go Missing on July 4th!
Precautions from Humane Society of The United States
  • Resist the urge to take your pet to fireworks displays.
  • Do not leave your pet in the car. With only hot air to breathe inside a car, your pet can suffer serious health effects, even death, in a few short minutes. Partially opened windows do not provide sufficient air, but they do provide an opportunity for your pet to be stolen.
  • Keep your pets indoors at home in a sheltered, quiet area. Some animals can become destructive when frightened, so be sure that you've removed any items that your pet could destroy or that would be harmful to your pet if chewed. Leave a television or radio playing at normal volume to keep him company while you're attending Fourth of July picnics, parades, and other celebrations.
  • If you know that your pet is seriously distressed by loud noises like thunder, consult with your veterinarian before July 4th for ways to help alleviate the fear and anxiety he or she will experience during fireworks displays.
  • Never leave pets outside unattended, even in a fenced yard or on a chain. In their fear, pets who normally wouldn't leave the yard may escape and become lost, or become entangled in their chain, risking injury or death.
  • Make sure your pets are wearing identification tags so that if they do become lost, they can be returned promptly. Animals found running at-large should be taken to the local animal shelter, where they will have the best chance of being reunited with their owners.
