Increase Visibility With a Hook!

House Being Raised
Looking for ideas to help generate publicity for you or your organization? Having a hook can help. Timing is equally important.

As Atlanta's Peachtree Creek was flooding, we pitched a client story to a local television station. Click here to see the coverage. Two stations plan follow-up coverage after the family returns to their home.

Here's a synopsis of our pitch:
What do you do when your house floods due to rain? You can move, buy flood insurance or raise the entire house to help prevent it from happening again. This couple is raising their house 8-10 feet to accommodate revised flood zone standards. Many people believe that when the water recedes, the problem goes away. If you live in certain areas, the potential for flood damage is always there.

A targeted--and personalized--approach always works better than blanketing the media with your pitch.

TGC Media Testimonial
Bruce Ellis Video

We all have customers. We may call them members, clients or something else. These are the people on which your reputation rests. They also can be your best salespeople.

Video testimonials from satisfied customers are an effective way to market your product or service 24/7 via your Web site or platforms like YouTube. Click here to see an example.

Here are some tips to consider:
  • What message do you want to convey? Develop a list of questions for your interviewee that will elicit the types of responses you want.
  • Choose "real" people who ideally fit your new customer profile. Encourage honesty. Did you solve a problem for them?
  • Less is more. Videos should be 1-2 minutes long or less.
  • Group your videos in one location on your Web site to make it easy for people to find them. Be sure to include a Bookmark and Share feature.
  • See what search terms people use to find you and use them in the video's title. Use "tags" on YouTube that put your videos in easily searchable categories.
  • Design the layout of your Web page so it clearly shows your offer and makes it easy for someone to take action after viewing your video.

Dog-Fighting Video
Sylvia Small Communications & Marketing recently provided public relations assistance for a raid conducted by the Duplin County Sheriff's Department on an alleged North Carolina dog-fighting facility. Private investigators with Norred & Associates, an Atlanta-based security firm, and the Atlanta Humane Society assisted in the rescue operation.
