We'd like to congratulate Randy
Seay, one of our Project Managers, on attaining his CGR certification (Certified
Graduate Remodeler) from NAHB. In addition, Buddy Breedlove, our
Senior Project Manager, has joined an elite group of NARI Certified Professionals
by attaining his GCP certification (Green Certified Professional). He is only the second person in the state of Texas to do so.
His
certificate has been forwarded to the local NARI chapter for formal
presentation. We are very proud of both Randy and Buddy, as BellaVista
Company is committed to maintaining the highest standards in the industry.

A Return on Your Investment

When considering remodeling your home, one consideration is what the return on investment (ROI) will be - but some home improvement projects actually lower your bills, which means they literally pay for themselves. Here are a few suggestions for some upgrades that will quickly save you some money:
Programmable Thermostats: A must for every home. Program them to turn off when you leave in the morning, and then to cool off or warm back up shortly before you return. They can be programmed to only heat or cool certain portions of your home, which is invaluable if you have rooms that are used infrequently. These thermostats can pay for themselves in 2 to 3 months (depending on your HVAC usage), and that can translate into huge savings over a long period of time.
Energy Efficient Appliances: Heating water accounts for more than 50% of your home's energy. You can use 35-40% less water in your washer by replacing it with an energy efficient model. Not only will this reduce your energy bill, but you'll also save on your water bill. The same goes for your dishwasher. Tankless hot water heaters reduce your water heating costs as much as 50%, since they heat entirely on demand. Since there is no hot water storage, thermal heat loss is almost completely eliminated.
Attic Insulation: This is one of the most cost-effective installations you can do, because more heat is lost through poor attic insulation than from any other place in your home. When heat rises through the home, it ends up leaking through the attic. Studies show that most homes will pay for the cost of installation within 3-6 years.
