Summer's Fun First Aid Kit
By
Katie Novak

So, it's off to summer vacation and you need to pack your first aid kit. This should include: a bug repellent, sunburn healing lotion, bites & scrapes anti-septic, poison oak ointment, muscle aches relief, tummy ache remedy, headache blend, respiratory relief and a sleep aid.

Essential oils are a key ingredient to any exceptional first aid kit. Tea Tree oil (Melaleuca alternifolia) from the Australian Tea Tree leaf was first brought to the world's attention back in World War II when the Australian Army used it to aid in wound care, rashes, bites, burns, etc. This oil can be used neat (directly on the skin) to literally stop the itching of bites, cuts, rashes and even the annoying reaction to dermal contact with poison oak.
