Get Your Orange On By Katie Novak

In honor of the great city of St. Francis (just 90 miles north of us) who recently celebrated a ticker tape parade in celebration of the Giants World Series victory - we at Elizabeth Van Buren would like to ask all of you to "Get Your Orange On!"

Orange November - as the Giants are calling it was graced by the Saints when our beloved boys won on all Saints Day.  An avid fan since I was young, I attended many San Francisco games (usually in Candlestick Park) with my family even in the early 60's.  I felt the spirit of my dad during this World Series and many of those who have gone before us as if there was a collective cheer rising up for this ever-deserving team.   California, who is still suffering from a high unemployment rate (22% in Silicon Valley), was given a shot in the arm with this victory and parade.

Compassion
Give the Gift of Compassion
By Katie Novak

This holiday season while Germany is boycotting Santa Claus, if you want to integrate with the true spirit of the season, then give the gift of Compassion.  It is difficult to feel compassion for others when our hearts are closed or scarred by the suffering of a world in turmoil.  The Winter Solstice brings us back to the light as the days finally begin to lengthen and we are reminded of the light that shines within us all.

In Elizabeth's new book AWAKEN to Healing Fragrance, she reminds us that essential oils, "partly due to their birth in the plant's metabolic reaction to light, they are able to function in our beings on many levels. When we use the oils for spiritual upliftment, we see that this magical liquid, more than water or oil, is capable of enlivening our energy body as molecules of light. Just as light is energy that can manifest as heat, electricity, and magnetic power, on a smaller emotional scale in our humble lives light is constantly changing form:  It can reappear after the dark storms of the disturbing, wailing of our pain bodies. As the light enters our consciousness, love floods our hearts and lifts us up to a place of compassion and forgiveness.  It's like being dunked in a tub of beautiful Bulgarian Rose oil diffused in water."
