Did you know nearly 1% of Jefferson County homes generate their own solar electricity?

You, too, can be a part of this 1%. If you've been considering renewable energy for your home or business, now is the time-with Solarize Port Townsend!

Power Trip Energy Corp. is offering this solar PV bulk purchasing and installation program for residents of Port Townsend and east Jefferson County. Customers who install grid-tied solar photovoltaic (PV) systems with Power Trip Energy between April and June 2012 will receive cash rebates of $700 per kilowatt (maximum rebate of $5,000 per customer).Packard-Larkin_..._web_

Last year, Solarize Port Townsend rebates totaled $56,000. Additionally, all systems qualify for a 30% federal income tax credit. Sign up before April 30, 2012, to take advantage of this limited-time offer.

Project Spotlight - Frankel Residence

Frankel Image

This project is notable for a few reasons, not just the beauty of the site. The Frankels are conifer collectors in Sequim and have a large number of interesting and some rare trees around their property (not to the south of the array.) This project was especially satisfying since the clients first contacted us for a proposal in 2005. Although Eric & Donna didn't take us up on it then, they kept in touch, came on solar tours, talked to other homeowners with solar, and would come talk with us whenever we were out in public. Over the years, prices continued to decrease, and when we conducted the 2011 Solarize Sequim campaign, Eric & Donna recognized the confluence of circumstances that made now the time for putting up PV. In addition to taking advantage of the group buying program and getting a $3360 rebate from Power Trip Energy, they took the 30% Federal tax credit and the state sales tax exemption. Today the Frankels are proud owners of a 6.7 kw Sharp PV array, and by the way, we applied the $150 that we had been holding on account for them that they had paid for a site evaluation six years previously
