Fidalgo and Guemes Islands - Various Locations
For the second consecutive year, Power Trip Energy will be participating in the Anacortes solar tour. Solar and wind powered homes on Fidalgo and Guemes Islands will be showcased. The tour will feature workshops on grid-tied solar PV (photovoltaics), solar thermal (hot water), wind powered systems, and off-grid living as well as local homes equipped with grid-tied and off-grid renewable energy systems.
Presentations are planned to begin at 10 am at the Anacortes Senior Center (Fidalgo Center) at 1701 22nd St. and the homes are planned to be open for tours from 1 pm - 5 pm. All events will be free and open to the public.
The event is co-sponsored by Transition Fidalgo and Friends (formerly Skagit Beat the Heat), Power Trip Energy, Corp, and Whidbey Sun & Wind. Transition Fidalgo and Friends is a non-profit citizens group working to slow global warming, raise awareness on oil scarcity, and grow local resilience. Power Trip Energy is a Port Townsend based general and electrical contracting company specializing in solar grid-tied PV installations. Whidbey Sun & Wind, located in Coupeville, is a general and electrical contracting firm specializing in renewable energy systems, including solar PV, solar thermal, and wind power.
This year's solar tour will also feature local solar consultant, Solar Energy International instructor, and Home Power magazine senior editor Ian Woofenden as a workshop presenter. Ian coordinates and co-teaches solar and wind classes on Guemes Island.
Puget Sound Energy staff will also be on hand to answer questions about the utility's green power and customer-generated power programs.
