Made In Washington Solar Modules Now Available!

Silicon Energy Modules Power Trip Energy is now installing Silicon Energy solar modules of Arlington, WA.  Currently the only solar module made in WA state, the Silicon Energy modules are unique in appearance, construction, and in their return on investment.  Washington State's production incentive program offers 15 cents per kW hour for modules made outside WA and 36 cents per kW hour for modules made in WA.  The higher production incentive helps offset the somewhat higher cost of the Silicon Energy modules.

Power Trip Energy is currently installing mainly Sharp, Sunpower and Sanyo pv modules.Adding Silicon Energy modules to our product lineup provides our customers a local option to consider when making their renewable energy investment.

For additional information on this new product you can attend one of our upcoming events, contact our office at 360-643-3080 or check out the Silicon Energy web site at www.silicon-energy.com.

Ellensburg ImagePower Trip Energy Expands Ellensburg Array

In December we had the opportunity to do a 13 KW phase of a large installation for the City of Ellensburg.  We will be completing the job with a larger phase of 39 KW in May.  There are several reasons this was an exciting project for us. Firstly, the people with whom we are working from the City of Ellensburg are dynamic folks who have pioneered community solar concepts in Washington State, and they are actually national leaders due to the innovative program they have set up for the customers of their municipally-owned utility.  For more info on this program, check out Northwest SEED's review of Community Solar programs at http://nwcommunityenergy.org/solar/solar-case-studies/chelan-pud

Secondly, we enjoyed the project because it gave us the opportunity to work with some new products, notably thin-film pv modules from First Solar and a new (for us) German racking system designed to decrease costs and installation time on large ground-mounted arrays.  The expertise required to put a large array on the ground like this is quite different than the carpentry skills required on a roof-mounted system.  We certainly enjoy both and now have a pretty good portfolio of ground-mounted systems, especially considering last summer's 33 KW ground-mount on Lopez Island.  If you want to cover some acres with pv to make substantial power, we can make sure you get the most power and best value for the lowest installed cost.
