| United Way of Douglas County Celebrates Community Support | |
The United Way of Douglas County Annual Meeting and Campaign Celebration recognized hundreds of volunteers, thousands of volunteer hours and a current campaign total of $1,600,000 for the 2010-2011 Campaign on Wednesday evening. The efforts of the community will generate a projected total of $1,675,000 because campaign results continue to come in. Additional gifts, combined with United Way reserves will allow the dollars to fund Partner Agencies to remain at the same level as last year. In light of all the challenges facing human services, United Way partners can continue to do their good work in the community because of broad community support.

Beverly Smith Billings, 2010 Campaign Chair, presents Steve Maceli with a certificate of Appreciation for sponsoring the United Way's Annual Meeting & Campaign Celebration
Beverly Smith Billings, the 2010-2011 Campaign Chair says, "Although it's been a very challenging year for fundraising, and we have not reached our ambitious campaign goal, we are nonetheless very proud of the many successes of the 2010 campaign," said Billlings. "It is because of our dedicated donors and volunteers who give, advocate and volunteer that thousands of people throughout Douglas County will continue to have access to critical services."
The United Way combined three events into one evening on February 23, all sponsored by Maceli's. The evening's events were organized by Becky and Harry Gibson, and hosted by volunteers from Partner Agencies.
