What's Possible with Massage Certification-
USA Olympics Medical Team Staff
"Hey Katie,
It's Gabriel Mann. I'm sitting in my hotel room in Quebec, it's my last day at the tournament here for the US Beach Volleyball teams. I've been with our athletes in Shanghai, and the World Championships in Rome, and it's been a great experience, but now it's late in the season, and bodies are starting to feel the myriad competitions and flights from throughout the summer. Furthermore, there's normally 3 of us on the medical staff to share support for the athletes, but here, I'm the only medical staff. I'm all by myself...looking after 22 American athletes, playing 2-3 times a day. It's been a crazy week, and it seems like I'm working from dawn to, well, dawn, but I'm sitting here on my last day, realizing that I feel great. Thumbs feel fine. Back is perfect. Neck is loose. Huh? I realized that if it weren't for the foundation you established for me at SBBTI, I'd be broken by now! It's the mechanics and Qi Gong from you, the barefoot from John, the Tui Na and Thai massage from Erik and Nelson, and I've even been sneaking in some bars and MTVSS from Audrey :) I'm so thankful for the education all of you provided me, most of all right now. This is a wonderful job, and such a unique experience, but it's an extremely high-pressure environment and if I weren't as well-prepared as you've made me, I would've folded up and QUIT! Now, I feel like I could make this a career. It seems that ALL massage therapists are givers, so it's especially important for us to learn how to care for ourselves, and I'm thankful that you drilled that into me from the start. I'm starting to think that maybe all these athletes should just go to BTI and learn how to take care of themselves! Always thinking about you while I'm working!"
"I can't tell you how many of my friends I've encouraged to attend SBBTI...they've all realized what a tremendous waste their Economics degrees were and are in awe of how happy I am in my work."
~Gabriel Mann, massage therapist for the US Olympics, member of the Olympic medical team, SBBTI Grad

What is Possible with Massage Certification-
Couple's thriving massage practice " I am Spa Director at the Hadsten House in Solvang. I've been working there as a therapist and Spa Director's Assistant for the past 3 1/2 years and just got promoted to Spa Director. I do massage as well as manage. It's like a small family with five therapists. Before massage I worked in the grocery industry and hurt my back on the job- long hours and hard physical work. I paid for my own vocational rehabilitation sixteen years ago and started out doing maintenance work and massage work part-time. Now I am full time at Hadsten. We recently did Travel Zoo promotions and sold 500 spa packages. We were slammed with so much work for 5 months. We were all ready for a break when that was over. Business has been really good here. My job is fantastic and I love it."
Richard Lemay (SBBTI 200 hr graduate)
"I am doing really well. I was voted Best in the Santa Ynez Valley by the Santa Valley News and Journal four years in a row 2006-2009. I work out of four hotels and have my own clients. Before massage I was a seamstress and had over 800 clients. When I graduated, I let all my sewing clients know I was doing massage. I now earn between $4000-$6000/month. Richard and I work hard and we do very well. We have three grandbabies and we get to spend lots of time with them as well."
Bay Lemay (SBBTI 200 hr graduate)
