Greetings!Last night I had the opportunity to attend a Santa Barbara Time Bank gathering with roughly 50 professionals seeking community and the fundamental experience of getting their needs met and contributing their talents and abilities to others. The set up of the Time Bank is an hour for hour exchange, i.e. a doctor's hour gets the same value as a bread baker. All manner of professions were represented, including doctor, nurse, lawyer, accountant, contractor...as well as gardeners, babysitters, day laborers... Participating in a community of commerce where everyone's talents and abilities is given equal value is remarkable in itself. Equally remarkable, was the experience of hearing what needs and desired services were present within the gathering of professionals. We each went around and stated the service we would like to provide and one that we would like to receive. Out of the 50 gathered, the service most desired - requested by close to a fifth of the folks gathered, was MASSAGE. As someone who trains massage therapists and practices massage therapy, I was thrilled to hear such a resounding interest in receiving massage therapy. If you are ready to expand your skills, your capacity to contribute to others, or your livelihood, I invite you to join us in the bodywork classroom for in depth training in a skill that is wanted and needed by many and that can open many doors of opportunity. This summer we are offering two great Swedish Massage formats- night and day, as well as a bunch of short courses to get your feet wet or expand your skills in various specialty modalities. Visit our website www.sbbti.com for our full menu of summer courses or give us a call 805 966-5802 to discuss whats possible within our curriculum. We invite you to join us in developing your capacity to massage effectively and bringing the skills of self healing into your daily life experience. Blessings, Katie Mickey SBBTI Director |
