Greetings!
May 2010 bring balance, growth and exploration. If you are curious about massage training- you like to give or get massages and want to learn how to give a session that contributes to another and leaves you feeling alive and delightfully relaxed - please join us for an evening of receiving and body opening experiences. Our Open Houses are an interactive and experiential taste of massage and chi gong led by instructors and students.
If you are a new 200 hour graduate or a seasoned bodyworker, and would like the versatility of one certification that allows you to practice anywhere in the state, we invite you to visit our website www.sbbti.com for our continuing education offerings that will allow you to meet the state's practitioner or therapist requirements. Contnuing students often comment, that their practice gets a big boost when they come back for class, and that they enjoy meeting other talented bodyworkers and receiving some great bodywork.
Blessings,
Katie Mickey
Director of the Santa Barbara Body Therapy Institute

What is possible with Holistic Massage Training?
Chi Gong - tools for life and personal vitality
"Although it's been 15 years since I completed Level I training at BTI, the impact the Chi Gong training continues to have on my bodywork is amazing. It has improved my balance, stamina and overall energy, and given me the core strength and endurance to consistently provide top rate bodywork. I strongly believe that Chi Gong has allowed me longevity in a successful massage career. Thanks BTI for giving me the tools to still be going strong!"

A Career Springboard into loving what you do for a livelihood
"BTI gave me the massage foundation I needed to start working in a field about which I am extremely passionate and excited. Over the years, I have returned to BTI to take workshops and classes and to touch base with students and colleagues. After working in a corporate environment and as a legal assistant for many years, I realized that I wanted a career that I was excited about. I didn't want to
"clock watch" anymore. Initially, I gave massages in the evening after my "day" job as well as working Saturdays. After just 3 years, I was making more money part-time than I was at my full-time legal assistant job. The satisfaction I get from treating my clients is incomparable and outweighs the monetary benefit. Over the years, I have read and studied on my own thereby expanding my services to include many modalities of bodywork. I'm happy to say, I look forward to going to work every day. BTI has been a valuable resource and is very supportive, even though I graduated more than 11 years ago."

Making a difference - facilitating health and healing
" I recently treated an old friend, who was suffering from chronic neck and upper back pain after an auto accident. In a 3 week period, I treated her with a fusion of: Swedish, Shiatsu, Deep Tissue, Trigger Point, and Reflexology... very gently at first, then deeper detailed work, and finally an overall long relaxing massage. Each session resulted in significant improvements and her comment after the final treatment was: "Oh... I feel so much better!" That in itself made the 7 months training I just completed worthwhile. I thank the staff and instructors of the Santa Barbara Body Therapy Institute for the very special skills I now have."
Ron Buckley, 550 hour graduate, recently retrained from a program manager career. Currently establishing his practice: Fusion Massage, in Santa Barbara |
What is possible with Bars Training?
Body/mind transformation
"After receiving Bars my anxiety eased. The relief in my body was immediate and allowed me to be more present. I began to sleep without medication. After each Bars session, I slept well and had more energy in the day. I would get so much more done in a day. The mood swings, heart palpations and acid reflux eased as well. Prior to my cancer surgery I would have intense PMS. My husband would "run my Bars" and I would have relief mentally and physically. Over the years, I have shed 200 lbs without dieting and went from being confined to a wheelchair to being physically active- walking, gardening, and even dancing. "
Audrey Lynette, Bars Facilitator
12 years ago Audrey was diagnosed with OCD, anxiety, depression, acute obesity, chronic pain syndrome and 6 years later cancer. She used a wheel chair to get around and was living on a disability pension. Concurrent with the healing of her body, Audrey has facilitated hundreds of people in private sessions and group classes internationally.
