"Studying at BTI has given me a skill I can be truly passionate about. I experienced a comprehensive education and benefited from the wisdom of my instructors in ways that go beyond how to give an effective massage. Of the modalities I have learned, reflexology has proven to be the most powerful and effective I do. I consistently witness my clients benefiting from the work and becoming convinced of the power of reflexology and bodywork in general." Allie Thompson, BTI graduate, practicing therapist at the Bacara Resort & Spa
"Barefoot training at SBBTI was a perfect fit for me-the unique teaching styles and varied courses gave me the tools needed to offer effective, therapeutic bodywork. Barefoot massage is sought after by athletes and clients with thicker muscle to relieve and release deeply held tension in the belly of the muscle...it's much easier for me as a small framed therapist. I love what I do and sometimes I'm amazed that I get paid to do it. Thank you SBBTI and the Santa Barbara community. " Mary Elliot, in private practice at Gibian Wellness Center
Hot Stone Massage is a blissful therapeutic experience. For the masseuse, it is very neutralizing and you stay balanced while giving the massage. The recipient benefits at a deeper level than most traditional massages. The warmth of the stones relaxes the muscles physically while promoting the flow of circulation, and mentally deepens your state and relaxes your mind, thus rejuvenating your spirit. The hot stone massage is truly a great technique to connect your mind, body, and spirit.

Greetings all,
Our business skills panel has brought a wave of successful graduates and employers to SBBTI, sharing the strategies, techniques and presence they have each brought to their practice that has catalyzed their success and the loyalty of their clients. We congratulate all of our graduates who are generating their livelihood with massage and are touching the lives of so many.
The immune system has taken center stage this fall with flu season in full swing. At SBBTI, we advocate a number of holistic methods for keeping our shields up and fortifying our immune system: mineral and vitamin C absorbtion from whole foods and angstrom minerals (available at SBBTI bookstore), vitamin D absorbtion from sunshine, hormonal and neurotransmitter replenishment from deep relaxation, deep breathing and restorative bodywork. If you are considering vaccination, we encourage you to visit Dr. Mercola's site for lots of great research on the vaccine and the HIN1 virus. http://products.mercola.com/swine-flu/20091103.htm.
The California Massage Therapy Council has been flooded with applicants for State Certification. They have received over 6000 applications from massage practitioners and therapists throughout the state within the first month of accepting applications. If you are among the recent applicants, the word from the CMTC board is to be patient; their current processing time is approximately 90 days.
If you are a Level I graduate, you can qualify for the first tier of State Certification (Certified Massage Practitioner) with 50 more hours of continuing education.
We invite you to join us in deepening your skills, enhancing your immune system and qualifying for State credentials.
Blessings,
Katie Mickey
