President's Message Robert J. Snyder, DPM, FACFAS, CWS

Dear Colleagues:
I hope all is well and that you are enjoying the summer months.
It is hard to believe that two years have passed since I took the helm as ABWM President. I have truly enjoyed serving in this capacity and look forward to participating in the "coveted" role of Immediate Past President; the culmination of 8 years of service to the organization.
I have been fortunate to have a truly "working" and engaged board that has functioned tirelessly and diligently on behalf of the ABWM; I thank them all for their efforts. Under this presidency, we have accomplished several critical milestones. The centerpiece of this administration remains the metamorphosis of our organization from an academy to a board. This was no small feat; the endeavor required focus and determination from every member of the board and our executive staff. The culmination of these efforts at the Symposium on Advanced Wound Care on April 19-22, 2012 with our "Are you on the list?" initiative was truly a seminal moment in the chronology of ABWM, representing the next phase in our history.
Your board also made sweeping changes with the hiring of Applied Measurement Professionals, Inc. (AMP) as our testing partner; our testing sites have been upgraded and the company will work in tandem with our organization regarding examination development and statistical modeling.
Another milestone in the board's history surrounded the formation of the ABWM Foundation. Over time this body will be self-sufficient and utilized to offer practice exams, evaluate exam review courses, and offer educational events, among other initiatives.
Looking to the future, it is my firm belief that Associates and Diplomates should consider formulating fellowships and residencies in multidisciplinary wound management to move our profession into the next phase of our development as a true specialty.
I leave the board in the very capable hands of our new president
Walter Conlan III, MD, CWSP; I feel certain that under his leadership, the organization will continue to do great things.
ABWM remains strong, solvent, and well respected in the field. Continue to display your credential proudly; it is well deserved!
Thank you for the opportunity to serve.
Best,
Robert J. Snyder, DPM, FACFAS, CWS

On behalf of the entire American Board of Wound Management, I would like to personally thank Robert Snyder DPM, FACFAS, CWS for his hard work and dedication as President of ABWM. Under his leadership, the ABWM has accomplished a great deal during his tenure. Through his vast knowledge, experience and expertise, Rob has helped put us at the forefront of wound certification. He is a true leader in the field of wound care.
Among the many accomplishments during his tenure as President:
- Name change to American Board of Wound Management
- Changing to a new exam vendor --- Applied Measurement Professionals
- Offering year round testing
- Fast track combination of CWS and CWSP exams starting this October 2012
- Offering practice exams for CWS and CWCA
- New updated user friendly website
- Increase in number of exam enrollees for all three exams (CWCA,CWS,CWSP)
All of these accomplishments would not have been possible without Rob. His guidance will serve our organization well into the future.
