Spotlight on Variegated Black Spruce
Picea mariana 'Aureovariegata'

If you're looking for an evergreen for screening, something with some extra pizzaz, take a look at Picea mariana 'Aureovariegata'.  It has a graceful narrow habit and will reach 10' tall in 15 years, eventually growing to 35'. The upper surface of the branches have golden tones on blue-green needles emphasizing its horizontal branching.

It's a nice choice for the smaller landscape, as a specimen or grouped together for screening.  Plant in full sun for best needle color. An unusual evergreen to offer your customers who are looking for something a little different! Take a look at our 5/6'  in Newtown.

Marks Turf Tips: Reap the benefits of a great looking lawn!
Mark's magic is no secret!
While we can all appreciate a nice looking lawn, I think many of its benefits for the landscaper who cares for that lawn are somewhat subliminal.

The mere fact that you are working on someone's property immediately tells you that the owners care about how it looks. You may be doing the best job in the world with the trees, shrubs and perennials, but if the lawn looks less than perfect it is a reflection on the landscape as a whole. This photo was taken 11/30 and, as you can see, it's still is doing very well and will continue to do so. Fall products like 10-20-15  or even 9-2-5 with 6% Iron will help any lawn now and get it off to an EARLY start next spring! It will be the first thing that reminds your customers of YOU!  I also feel that lawns that green up early in spring can generate early work and income for you as your customers get the itch to start spiffing up their yards. It will be the first reminder they get to give you a call!

If you would like to learn more please contact me or sign up for the 3a license class I will be teaching in January!
