Mark's Tip: Reduce plant stress now for better health next year !
PHC Products
PHC to the Rescue!

We all tend to forget how many adverse conditions plants deal with this time of year, especially when it comes to newly planted material. The fact of the matter is, from the time a tree is dug out of the ground (this is an injury to the plant) it takes as long as three years to make a complete, 100% recovery.  One of the best things you can do to aid in the recovery is to treat the area where the injury took place: the root zone and the surrounding soil. For this we turn to some of the best products on the market formulated by Plant Health Care.  These products have a variety of biological agents that aid in conditioning soil for better aeration, moisture retention, tilth,  friability, lithological  continuity and compaction reduction. All these will, in the end, speed the plant's recovery and overall health.

So consider some of the fine products today and improve your overall success !

Perennial of the Week:  Perovskia atriplicifolia
Perovskia 2
Russian Sage 2 gallon
common name
: Russian Sage
size: 3-4'
interest: Fine gray foliage, airy lavender-blue flowers and fine blue-green foliage
culture: Well-drained soil is critical, full sun
time of year: July - September
companion plants: Roses, Echinacea, Phlox paniculata, grasses!

This is one of those plants that customers love. Planted in large groups certainly make a big splash and are wonderful compliments to Roses and Coneflowers. Just make sure they have the conditions they need to look good -  there is nothing worse than a floppy Russian Sage! Full sun and very well-drained soil are key. Also, try to avoid overhead watering. You can also cut them back by 1/3 in May to help them stay full. The foliage is fragrant and not at all attractive to deer. Great for the butterfly garden!
