Dwarf Evergreen in Watertown
Dwarf Evergreens- many colors and varieties

What's new in Watertown?

Inside the sales office we're happy to offer a wider selection of hand tools as well as books, plus, exciting for us ... a new countertop and a freshly painted floor!  Outside, our main greenhouse received a face lift with a new polycarbonate front and back and new soft plastic roof and sides.  We've moved blocks of plants to make room for more specimen items. We have a nice selection of Japanese Maples (Acer palmatum), dwarf conifers, Boxwood and of course, a huge variety of perennials!

Hope to see you all real soon - Roger

Mark's Tips: Pre-emergents  in Beds and Turf

Preen & Treflan
Pre-emergents:  Treflan and Preen Plus.

Now is the time for pre-emergent products for your landscape beds and turf.

Whether you are creating a new planting bed or maintaining existing beds, the use of products like Preen Plus  and Treflan can save untold amounts of labor, not to mention how good your landscapes will look without weeds.  Treflan 5G is a pre-emergent, comes in  40 pound bags and covers 22,000 sq. ft. It  prevents germination of 19 common annual grassy weeds and 9 annual broadleaf weeds. For maintenance this is a very economical way to control weeds when cleaning and mulching landscape beds.

Preen Plus is a pre-emergent with an even broader spectrum of weed control. It works on approximately  150 grassy and broadleaf weeds and is the best choice if the landscape beds have been lacking maintenance in the past, or you are just looking for the best weed control possible. Preen Plus comes in a 20 pound bag and covers 3,500 to 6,000 sq ft. and is an excellent labor saver.

Seeding and Crabgrass Control

We have been getting a lot of questions about lawn repair seeding and crabgrass control.  This was not unexpected given the amount of snow plowing that took place this winter. One of the products that I have had fantastic results with is Lebanon's ProScape 19-0-6 with Confront + Dimension. This product can be applied two weeks after germination of the seed you put down. It will not only control crabgrass, it will also control many broad leaf weeds as well. This product comes in a 40 pound bag that will cover 10,000sq ft.

So get out there and do your lawn repairs with Planters' Choice Fast Establishment Seed and apply Confront + Dimension just two weeks after germination thereby controlling  crabgrass and broad leaf weeds!!!!

Always remember it is the users responsibility to read, understand and follow the label's instructions. Come in or call with any questions!
