Welcome!

Most of us, that are business owners, are sighing with relief that warmer weather has finally come. As Memorial Day weekend is nearing we are gearing up for a busy, fast paced summer. This weekend, in general, is the start to the summer season. From now until Labor Day weekend is where a great deal of the annual income is generated for many business owners and their families.  The Chamber anticipates this time of year with much excitement for Pateros' livelihood.

This past month the Chamber held their annual banquet where a few very special people were honored. The town of Pateros made it very clear who they felt deserved "Business of the Year" and "Citizen of the Year". The "Business of the Year" was awarded to B and B Meats- Bob and Brenda Parten. Over the last few years this business has made quite a name for itself and developed a very loyal following. They have also contributed greatly to commerce in Pateros. Thank you Bob and Brenda for all your hard work! The Chamber was also honored to award Chick Pryor with "Citizen of the Year." Chick has contributed immensely to the town for many years in many different ways. Whether she was teaching school or operating her own business in Pateros she has been an asset to this community and we thank her. Congratulations to all three of you!

Here's to Summer!

April General Meeting

If you've never sat in on one of our meetings, you're missing out on great food, informal atmosphere, informative guest speakers and updates on Chamber happenings.

The April General Meeting was held Wednesday, April 15th.  Our guests were the lovely Co-Queens of the 2009 49er's Days, Kelsey Mclain and Kaitlyn Weber.  They discussed all the exciting things going on this year.  Also, we have a new business in town, Cameron B. Design, owned and operated by Cameron Bahnson, a talented photographer.  She is located next to B&B Meats. Welcome, Cameron!

We discussed the upcoming Annual Banquet (held on April 27th) and Business Appreciation & Safety Day (held May 2nd).  Joni Parks was also present to discuss the upcoming Dragon Boat Races, which will be held on July 18th during Apple Pie Jamboree weekend  Everyone is excited about having this event again!

Thanks to all who attended.  Next meeting is at noon on Wednesday, May 20th at City Hall.  We hope to see you there!

Business Appreciation & City LogoSafety Day

Safety Day was a great success thanks to the great showing of our Pateros Volunteer Firemen.  The city of Pateros has 19 volunteer firefighters, male and female, in their Association.  Fire Chief Mike Lambert heads up the volunteers in their training and fire fighting.  The volunteer firemen keep up on their training by sending selected firemen to trainings all over the region. Those firefighters bring back the training and present it to all the local members.  Trainings are held every Thursday.  Say THANK YOU to a volunteer fireman; for they are volunteers and may save your home or life some day.

Recently the volunteer firemen have moved their equipment into the Districts fire hall.  This leaves the old fire hall next to city hall empty.  City Hall is requesting input on what might be done with the old fire hall.  Some suggestions have been:  library, museum, recreation center or a meeting room.  Do you have a great idea for the old fire hall?  If so, email pateros@swift-stream.com or call 509-923-2571 and ask for Linda.

Pateros School
Hello Pateros,

Spring is in full bloom.  You will find the schedule of activities speaks for itself; Pateros School is a busy place.  The seniors are sprinting through the end of the school year activities. I enjoyed hearing several students share their college, trade school, and career plans during our career fair. Over the years we have had 90% of our students go on to some type of post secondary training.  This is the beginning of their next great adventure.  All of the graduation activities have been scheduled, including the senior trip.  Pateros School District staff members wish our seniors the very best as they celebrate this first big step with graduation.
