Welcome!

It is almost spring! I can just feel it coming around the corner, as I am sure many of you can as well. With the thought of walking through the orchards as they bloom and throwing rocks in the river with my kids, the snow can't melt soon enough. As a new member of the Pateros Chamber of Commerce and as the newly elected President I am excited to be involved in a community that is so supportive of its businesses. We are all excited-this is the first email newsletter that we are now sending out to Pateros business owners, community members and anyone in the surrounding area who is interested in being updated on what's happening in Pateros.

You will see as you scan the contents that there are a few different sections to this newsletter. Along with upcoming events that will be highlighted each month, there will be two featured businesses each month, an update on the school, a mayor's column and more.

There is a list of upcoming events on the left side of the newsletter. If these events change, for any reason, you will be updated right here. Put these dates on your calendar now as many of them are fast approaching!

If you know of anyone who you think may enjoy and/or benefit from this newsletter please email us their address. In addition, if you have any information that you believe would benefit others in the community by being in this newsletter please email the information. Thank you for taking the time to read this newsletter. We are excited to have it a part of the Pateros Chamber of Commerce.

February General Meeting

If you've never sat in on one of our meetings, you're missing out on great food, informal atmosphere, informative guest speakers and updates on Chamber happenings.

The February General Meeting was held Wednesday, February 18th.  This month, Pateros School Superintendent Lois Davies gave a great presentation on the Health & Safety Bond issues.  We discussed our upcoming event, the Annual Banquet for Citizen and Business of the Year, which will be held at 6:30 p.m. on April 27 at Pateros Methodist Church.  Ballots will be mailed out in the March utility bills and due back to City Hall by April 10.  You can also print out a ballot by going to our website (www.pateros.com) and visiting the Annual Banquet event page.  Tickets will be on sale at City Hall prior to the event.  Meeting Minutes are available for viewing on our website.

City of Pateros Website

Work has begun on the web site for the city and should be up and running before summer.  We are planning the following links:  Home, Mayor/Council, Agendas, Minutes, History, Departments, Events, Attractions, General Information, Code, Forms, Links and Frequently Asked Questions. We are hoping this will help keep our citizens better informed on current happenings within the city.  For the convenience of citizens we will have many of the general forms for the city which can be downloaded.  We welcome input from our citizens as to what they would like to see on the page.

From the Superintendent, Lois Davis

Pateros School
Pateros School District has much to celebrate.  The student academic awards were held in February for the first semester.  Teachers and students are working hard to reach their academic goals.  Our music program is growing and thriving. We had a high school student qualify for the All State Choir Competition, Rikki Emigh represented us well.  We are enjoying the Methow Arts Alliance opportunities.  The community is always welcome to these cultural events.
