Introducing Irene Stefanko
| | Irene feels blessed to serve UUCM as a Ministerial Intern this year.
She is excited to bring her enthusiasm to the youth and other congregational ministries. Irene has a strong interest in religious education, pastoral care, multi-generational ministry, and social justice. Irene graduated from the Starr King School for the Ministry in May 2012 and completed her clinical pastoral education in August 2012. Prior to Seminary, she enjoyed a career in management and consulting. She has studied engineering, environmental studies, and business.
Irene found Unitarian Universalism in the middle of her life. After hearing a single sermon at the congregation in San Mateo, she knew she found her spiritual home. Within her home congregation she served as a religious educator, assisted with the interfaith Home and Hope Program, and tried to add a touch of beauty to the environs. She loves storytelling, and from a literary perspective, considers herself a "Seussarian." Science of all flavors intrigues her. Irene gardens when she can, tries to paint, and sometimes spends the whole day watching old movies. Irene lives in the Bay Area with her son, daughter, and partner. They all share the house with a poodlely-thing.
