Sunday Worship Service
| March 25, 10:30 am: 'Spirituality vs. Religion - What's Baby, and What's Bathwater?' Rev Chip Wright -- 'UUCM Auction topic' John Schlag, & Sarah and Maggie Shepherd, and Jennifer Gennari with Worship Associate Bev Munyon
Many of us grew up in traditions we decided to leave for one reason or another. In doing so, what did we jettison, what did we keep, and what did we lose? Did we miss something? Conversely, are we each bringing along some bathwater we could afford to get rid of?

Readings introduce a silent period to reflect on a topic or idea, followed by an opportunity to share individual thoughts.

March is Pledge Month!
| |
March signifies not only the coming of spring but the dawn of new possibilities for UUCM, which are only made possible when each of us makes our financial commitment for the upcoming church year. So far, 50% of members and friends have pledged more than $93,000! This month, renew your spirit by renewing your pledge! Return your pledge form to the office by March 31, or visit the pledge table at coffee hour on Sunday.

UUCM Congregational Retreat
| | PLEASE TURN IN YOUR REGISTRATION FORMS BY THIS SUNDAY, MARCH 25!!!! The Retreat Committee needs to know how many people are coming, in order to submit Walker Creek paperwork and to help us put the program together.
Do you have a special discussion topic that interests you? Do you have a special knowledge, talent or craft that can be shared with others? Consider leading a session at the retreat! Sessions are approximately 1.0 to 1.5 hours each. Never done it before? Never fear -- the Retreat Committee will help you every step of the way!
To offer a workshop or take part in the talent show, print and fill in these forms:
To sign up for the Retreat, please download these forms: |
Message from the Administrator | | The Administrator will be out of the office April 9-13.
Also: Please observe designated parking signage and markings on Sunday mornings. A designated parking spot is between two white lines and one that is not otherwise marked for staff. Rev. Chip usually offers his parking spot as an additional disabled parking spot, so if his car is not parked there, it may be used for disabled parking.

Time to Submit Budget Items

Budget Time
It's time to submit requests for 2012-2013 (starting July 1, 2012) budget items to the Finance Committee. We will be constructing the proposed UUCM Budget during our next meeting, 11:30 to 1 p.m. on April 17. John Quinley will be contacting committee chairs for their requests. Anyone who wishes to address the Finance Committee directly or to express issues or concerns via email may contact Margaret Johnston, Finance Committee chair, at margaret.johnston@comcast.net. The Finance Committee will present a proposed budget to the Board of Trustees at their April 25 meeting, and the budget will be presented to the congregation for approval at a May 20 meeting. For reference, the 2011-2012 budget is posted on the website in the "members only" section.

New members bio - Lundbaek family
| | Thomas, Dani, Sofia & Oskar Lundbaek - Thomas grew up in Corte Madera, Dani grew up in the Air Force. We met skiing on the north shore of Lake Tahoe in 2000 and are now raising our family in Marinwood. Sofia is a vivacious, tomboy Kindergartner and very excited to be learning to read and write. Oskar is an independent car-loving preschooler. Thomas is primarily a stay at home dad, but also works part-time as a comedy traffic school instructor and foster child respite caregiver. Dani has a corporate job & works full time in the City. We spend our free time out & about enjoying the Bay Area - love the coast, the redwoods and the mountains. At home you'll find the neighbors over cooking, eating & having a glass of wine. We have two cats, Buckey & Thunder.
We are very happy to be a part of the UU Marin congregation and are looking forward to getting to know everyone!

Landscape Party March 31st
| | Our fish pond is in good health and on advice from Fred, at Pet Arcade, I would like to forgo the scouring this year and see how it goes. Apparently, there are beneficial bacteria in the pond and it is ok to have green on the bottom.
Wanda and Paula know about this and are planning plenty of other projects to make good use of everyone so please turn out on Saturday March 31st, between 9-1. Students can receive community service credit.
Lunch provided |
Passover Seder April 6
| | Join us for A FAMILY PASSOVER SEDER POTLUCK on April 6th starting at 5:30pm at UUCM, Fellowship Hall. This year we'll be using the "Oranges and Olives: A Modern, Interfaith Haggadah" to read the story of the Jewish people's liberation from Egyptian slavery many years ago. This story is a liberation story for ALL people who are enslaved in body, mind or spirit. Please see the flyer for details and children are welcome! RSVP by April 1: office@uumarin.org or 479-4131.

Food needed for Mill Street | | It is again time to sign up to bring food for the Mill Street shelter.
This is a part of New Beginnings and houses 60 men and women while they are looking for work. We cook one meal a month - on the first Sunday. Three large casserole are what is needed. We supply salad makings.
We have found that the best size is an aluminum pan 10x12. These are available in the kitchen or on the Social Concerns table.
Food should be brought to the UUCM kitchen on Sunday and will be delivered.
Please let me know if you will be able to contribute a dish.
