Sunday Worship Servicechalice

February 12, 10:30 am: Ordinary People Doing Extraordinary Things
Dwayne Hunn with Worship Associate Joan Nelson

Guest speaker Dwayne Hunn (Executive director, American World Service Corps) says it took him a while to learn that "Peace and Service was not the churchy priestly stuff emanating from comfy parishes." He will explain how we can enlighten public policy, and involve millions of Americans in addressing public needs." (He invites us to join him in a talk-back after the service.)

book pile Our UUCM Book Group meets the third Wednesday of each month, 7:30 to 9 PM in the Clara Barton Room.  All are invited. Our next meeting is February 15.  Carol Littrell will lead a discussion of Nemesis by Chalmers Johnson.   Johnson, a political scientist, is author of Blowback and The Sorrows of Empire.  "In Nemesis, the bestselling and final volume in what has become known as the Blowback Trilogy, he shows how imperial overstretch is undermining the republic itself, both economically and politically."  His advice is to follow Britain's role and jettison both empire and the world-policeman role.
