June, 2011

As summer rolls in and the church year slows down I am reminded of what Rumi writes of June 12th in  "A year with Rumi" translated by Coleman Barks:

'Lamp after Lamp'

"You that prefer, as crows do,
winters chill and the empty limbs,
notice now this that fills
with new leaves and roses opening
And the night birds song.

Let your love dissolve also
Into this seasons moment
Or when it's over you will buy
Lamp after lamp to find it."

Enjoy the summer's gifts! Be well and full of life!
And may joy and peace hold you.
Rev. Chip

Administrator out of office

Janette Morrow, administrator, will be out of the office on Thu/Fri June 9th-10th.

Matching Grant almost there

The deadline for the matching grant is fast approaching - next Wednesday June 15! As of today we have raised $3,105. We are less than $1,000 away - let's work together to turn $4,000 into $8,000! Remember, the amount matched must be separate from your pledge. You can send in a check marked 'matching grant' in the memo field or contribute online at www.uumarin.org. Celebrate the end of UUCM's program year with your contribution!

Mill Street Shelter:  Sign-Up Time Again

On the first Sunday of every month, UUCM provides dinner for the residents of Mill Street Shelter.  This effort has been shared by many people over the past five years. It's sign -up time again.  If you would like to provide a main dish to serve 25, or a large salad, please let June Fesler know what month you can do so. She will make a schedule and contact you.
Contributors bring food to the kitchen on Sunday morning, and it is delivered later that day. We will need volunteer contributors starting in July.  Contact June Fesler- Junemfesler@gmail.com
