Education Connection
| Linda Haumann Director of Religious Education June, 2011 As our church school year comes to a close and I prepare my Religious Education annual report, I'm always amazed by what we've accomplished together. From a focus on our UU principles to the study of world religions, this community provides a special place for our young people to explore their values, ideas about what is sacred, as well as their hopes and dreams. Our children and youth truly benefit by your continued commitment and involvement in RE. You'll have two opportunities to celebrate our children/youth and RE: One on June 5th when the YRUU co-create the 11am worship service with Rev. Chip and the other on June 12th, our teacher/volunteer recognition service and end of the year potluck. Volunteers truly make our RE program successful and our children, the next UU generation, are the beneficiaries. Please contact me at dre@uumarin.org if you'd like to become more involved with the RE program. You might have noticed a "Summer RE Sign up board" in the UUCM foyer. Please consider signing up to offer your talents! In the past we've had drumming circles, theater games, arts and crafts, collage, sewing, storytelling, and games. For safety purposes there must be two non-related adults leading the activity. Just sign your name and the description of the activity on the board so that families can plan. There will be no nursery care during the summer, but the nursery will be open for families. I'm on summer hiatus from June 13-August 15 (I'm hired for 10 months) and I'll look forward to seeing all of you again in the fall for our Ingathering Intergenerational service on Sept. 11th. Please remember to gather water and stones from your summer travels to bring to that service! Religious Education classes will officially start up again on September 18th. Wishing you a joy-filled and relaxing summer! With love and light, Linda Haumann, DRE dre@uumarin.org |

Matching Grant by June 15
| | As you may have heard, an anonymous donor has challenged UUCM to raise $4,000 and will match every dollar! As of today, we are more than one third of the way there, at $1725. We must raise $4,000 by June 15. You can do this by sending in a check with "matching grant" written on the memo line or by contributing online at www.uumarin.org and clicking the "donate button". If you haven't done so, please contribute today!
