Contemplative Service

Our Lay led Contemplative Service is from

9:00-9:50 am on Sundays (not available in summer).

Readings introduce a silent period to reflect on a topic or idea, followed by an opportunity to share individual thoughts.

Remarkable People Audio Presentations

We had 2 very interesting speakers on May 13, 2011: Elizabeth Vanek and William (Robert) Jamieson. Members may listen to their presentations. You will need to sign in with the UUCM username and password if you have not saved this information for the members only page. If you have lost this information contact the webmaster, webmaster@uumarin.org

Remarkable people will be on hiatus until the fall. Steve Webster is leaving as coordinator to help elsewhere in the congregation so we need someone to take his place. Would you like to be a coordinator or speaker next year? Contact Marge Hollinger.

Annual Congregational Meeting May 22

Membership at UUCM has its privileges, and one of those is the opportunity to vote for the budget and the new board members. This year, we are also approving an amended charter to our general endowment fund. This is a vital meeting; please plan to stay after the service on May 22. The meeting begins at 12:30. Contact Jennifer Gennari with questions.

Members only- You may view the PROPOSED 2011-2012 UUCM BUDGET. You will need the Members Only User Name and password. Contact the webmaster if you have lost this information.

BAFS Thank you Dinner May 20

friend chinese May 20th is the "Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! BAFS Dinner" at Rev. Chip & Lisa's home.

The list of folks who brought friends has vanished so here is how it will work:  If you brought a friend any time this year to a UUCM service you are invited!  Don't be shy!

Because the weather promises to be great, Rev. Chip, the grill master par excellence, and Lisa are preparing for an exciting gourmet BBQ on their extended deck in their backyard. (address in your member directory) Bring a sun hat and your appetites around 5:00 PM and Rev. Chip will start serving hot off the grill about 6:00 PM.

Please RSVP to Janette at the UUCM office so we will be ready to feed everyone without testing our faith in a feeding miracle of biblical proportions!

Partner Church Committee Challenge

Partner Church Committee challenge continued..
Last week we informed you of the committee's hope to receive enough donations to help Rev. Levente Lazar buy a car when he returns to Transylvania this summer. If everyone who could, donated $10 (and a few, a little more) we would quickly equal and surpass the amount the committee has as a challenge. A committee member will be in the foyer Sundays in May after church to receive your contributions.  And Thank you! Please make checks out to UUCM and put  "Partner Car Donation" on the information line.  You could also send it to Janette.

Possible Transylvania Trip

On May 29th, Rev. Chip's sermon will feature Transylvania.  He is going to be in Sovata for the dedication of their new church (our Partner Church).  It is not too late to make up a group that would go not only to Sovata for the dedication but would also travel around and see many different and  interesting sites, some Unitarian, some not. Picturesque  landscape. If you are interested, stay after church service on Sun. May 29 to talk.

Flowers, flowers, who's got flowers?

We have some wonderfully faithful flower people but we need some more as I don't like to ask the same ones too often.  If you would like to be on my list of people to call, phone or e-mail Terry Merrick. Don't forget that the Sunday bouquet can be in memory of a loved one too.

June 4th: An Evening of Spirit and Song

readerstheatreSaturday June 4th 7-9pm: An Evening of Spirit and Song. UUCM fundraiser featuring the 6-8th graders doing skits and musical tributes to our seven UU principles AND the UUCM Reader's Theatre with hilarious/serious short plays and verses.
Adults $10, Youth (17 and under) $5 (no childcare). Refreshments available for sale. Don't miss this fun evening for all ages!

Service begins 10:30 a.m. starting July 3

Get ready for a new and consistent year round service time! Beginning Sunday, July 3, UUCM's main service will begin at 10:30 a.m. This change will be better for families and hungry children, make our start time similar to other Marin churches, and accommodate other Sunday commitments - both at UUCM and in the community. Please spread the word! The contemplative service will take a break in the summer and resume in the fall in the Fireside Room.

Social Concerns

The Social Concerns Committee hosts information/action speaker luncheons several times a year.  We also host a Social Concerns Information/Action Table during coffee hour after Sunday services.  Make suggestions for Social or Environmental Justice issues and speakers or to reserve a Sunday for your table to: socialconcerns@uumarin.org

Thank You:
Members of the Social Concerns Committee once again rose to the culinary challenge for Sunday's "Enhanced" coffee hour. A special thanks goes to the newest Committee member and master cake  maker (!) Andrea Hildreth. And to Marje Park who worked with a low profile but very high commitment to our congregation and to the UU Service Committee.

Many thanks to those who helped with the arrangements for our UUSC Sunday with Rev. Bill Schulz. The many new memberships are appreciated. If you didn't get your membership renewed or opened, it's not too late. UUSC envelopes can be found on the Social Concerns Bulletin Board by the fountain in the foyer. Any questions, just call.
