Sunday Worship Service

April 17, 11 am: "The Prophetic Power of Play"
Jennifer Whitten, Starr King School for the Ministry seminarian with Worship Associate Steve Webster

From Hasidic storytellers to Zen Masters, the prophets have not always been full of brimstone and fire. Sometimes, it is the prophet's job to introduce the playful, opening a holy space where new ideas can enter. How can play move us forward in our work in the world, and keep us aligned with UU principles?

Social Concerns News

Many thanks to everyone who took part in UUCM's community outreach to the homeless. Chaplain Paul Gaffney tells us that our lady shelter guests  continue to express gratitude for our hospitality.

The St. Vincent DePaul Society's Development Director has asked us to share our personal experiences, lessons learned and ideas for change by writing letters. Send to socialconcerns@uumarin.org and they will be forwarded in a packet from UUCM. THE DEADLINE IS APRIL 15.
 ------------------------
The Social Concerns Committee thanks UUCM members Katherine Da Silva-Jain and Wayne, Dione and Kevin Lechner--and frequent visitor, Nolan Olhausen--for carrying our UU values into last week's "We are One" Workers Rights Rally at San Rafael City Hall.
--------------------------
The rotating homeless shelter program for this year ended on April 1. A total of 1,177 adults from 16 Marin congregations participated in meal preparation, laundry, site preparation, serving guests, and much more. A large number of young people helped as well. We served a total of 215 homeless folks. (That's a 24% increase over last year.)

It's the Year of the BAFS!
friend chineseAnd you are invited!  BAFS?  Well, that is 'Bring a Friend Sundays.'  Bring a friend(s) to service at LEAST once a month--or have them bring you!  And you can anticipate a reward beyond heaven, on earth: Gourmet dinner at the home of Rev's Chip and Lisa on May 20, 2011!

Here's how it works.

Please note the BAFS Sundays:
Second half:  May 15

All BAFS will offer an opportunity for any new folks to meet with the Minister, the RE Director, our Board President and other leaders of UUCM informally after the service.

So start calling your friends and telling them what a great place the UUCM is and inviting these special people to our special Sundays on top of the hill.  A fun time will be had by all!
