 | March Is Pledge Month!  | On this last day of our Pledge Drive, here's a friendly reminder to return your pledge form to the office ASAP.  Your support now helps us plan an amazing 2011-12 church year!

  Chip's Clips
 | | Spring is here and the gray whales are starting to move north from the warm waters of Mexico to their summer feeding grounds in the arctic.  I love to see them spouting along the coast as they head north.  When Lisa and I, avid abalone pickers, ply the Pacific coast of Northern California to gather these hidden mollusks, after the opening date of abalone season April 1st, we often spot their blows moving North in the distance as we appreciate living in such a rich and remarkable area.
So once again March has come in like a lion and gone out like a lamb, a wet one at that!  It was a good month here at the UUCM.  Not only did it welcome in spring but we welcomed in four new members as well!  March was also our pledge month, the month we gather up all the pledges so we can build the budget for the next church year.  It's very important to get those pledges in.  We don't need the $ right away but we do need the pledges as soon as possible to budget our programs and be prepared for our congregation's own blossoming into our new year.  So if you haven't made your pledge yet please get it to Susan Ingersoll or one of the canvas committee folks without delay.  Thank you again for all your support to keep this congregation the wonderful happening place that it is and moving like the whales into our abundant summer grounds!   Rev. Chip

Final (for the season) Shelter Report
 | |
  | | Shelter dawn at UUCM by Amy Likover |
Exiting the building for the last time this season, eighteen down-on-their-luck shelter guests expressed boundless appreciation for our UUCM hospitality. (One of them was prepared for a job interview, in a dress she had ironed with the UUCM iron. Bet you didn't know UUCM had an iron!)   Their lovely handmade thank you note is posted on the Social Concerns bulletin board.   This week, thanks go to Caroline Bopp, Katherine DaSilva-Jain, Marge Hollinger,  Amy Likover and Sally Schroeder.

 Request for  Remarkable People!
 | | |
 You are Remarkable People!
The 2nd Friday of each month, UUCM members get together for a fun evening event called Remarkable People.   Two of our members talk about their lives, sometimes show pictures, and have a brief Q&A.  Snacks and beverages are offered.  It's a great way to connect with our community and learn more about how we all got here -- always a remarkable story.

The next RP is Friday April 8th, 7:30 PM in the Fireside Room.  Please call or email Steve Webster ( steve.webster@gmail.com 415-320-0145) if you'd like to be one of our two speakers.  Whether you are young or old, think you're "remarkable" or not, we would love to hear from you!

If you like, we'll make an audio recording of your session you can share.  If you are a member you can listen to past recordings in the members only web page.
