Admission to the fun evening is a little cash and a package (or more)  of men's white athletic socks.

All the family can join in the fun of dancing or listening to "That Old Time Rock 'n' Roll" music of the 50's and 60's!  Professional ballroom dance teacher Michelle Parodi will teach us some basic steps.  Last year we learned "The Stroll" from our own musical artist Karen Auroy and collected over 100 pairs of socks for the Street Chaplaincy.  Let's make this year's Sock Hop even bigger and better!

Partner Church Committee Notes:Travel Letter from Rev. Levente Lazar

Rev. Levente Lázár, our Partner Church minister and present Balázs scholar sent the following note after the family just arrived back in Berkeley from a month long winter trip: "On 18 of December we arrived to Bedford, to Cathy Cordes house. After a few days we moved for one night to Ann Garies house. Then we went to Boston - we visited the UUA Headquarters, then the Kings Chapel. There we met our contact person from Sharon UC, Beth Gregor, and she took us to Sharon, partner church of Gyulakuta one of Erika's churches. Erika had 2 services, one at Christmas Eve and the other on Sunday. In the end of December, on 29 we flew to Washington DC, our host were members from Fairfax UUC. On 2nd of January I had 2 services in the church Fairfax UUC. On 9th of January we visited and I also had 2 services at the partners of my former church Szentharomsag, at the UC of Mt Vernon. The same day in the evening we flew to Chicago, where Erika attended a one week course at the Meadville Lombard TS. On 16 of January I had 2 services at Champagne, Urbana UUC. The same day we fly back to Berkeley. This is our trip, briefly. Levente "
This same busy person will be with us on Feb 29 to give the sermon. We all will host the family at a potluck luncheon after the service. Please put it on your calendar. Partnership Committee

Flowers for Sunday Visitors

Every Sunday we provide flowers for

rosespeople visiting the church for the first time. Do you have a garden or access to flowers? Would you be willing to bring flowers on Sunday? On a regular Sunday we need up to a dozen blooms; on the "Bring a Friend" Sundays we need two dozen. Please contact Valerie (v-taylor@pacbell.net, 415-827-0800 ) if you can help with this simple but rewarding contribution to Sunday's service.

It's the Year of the BAFS!

friend chineseAnd you are invited!  BAFS?  Well, that is 'Bring a Friend Sundays.'  Bring a friend(s) to service at LEAST once a month--or have them bring you!  And you can anticipate a reward beyond heaven, on earth: Gourmet dinner at the home of Rev's Chip and Lisa!

Here's how it works.

Please note the BAFS Sundays:
Second half: Feb. 13,  Mar. 13,  Apr. 10 &  May 15

All BAFS will offer an opportunity for any new folks to meet with the Minister, the RE Director, our Board President and other leaders of UUCM informally after the service.

So start calling your friends and telling them what a great place the UUCM is and inviting these special people to our special Sundays on top of the hill.  A fun time will be had by all!
Thank you for all the wonderful feedback! I love knowing you read this (and every issue of) UUCM Weekly News!  I work very hard to bring it to your mailbox every Thursday.
