Music Notes
|
| Phil Hildreth C.M.L. Director of Music December, 2010
Welcome December, my favorite time of the year. It is my favorite as it embodies the best of the human traits: giving, empathy and love. It is a time to remember all those people who have touched you and have been touched by you.
As this month begins, I had the chance to attend my first UU Musician's Network board meeting. This board meeting was like no other I have attended. Imagine a board of trustees made up of very talented musicians and song leaders. All were like-minded and eager and able to support each other. And one of my fellow Credentialing Candidates, Catherine Massey, was our Moderator. She was masterful as she led us in song and dance to do our board work. We did what we needed to do and in the process, grew in fellowship with each other. We meet again in February and I look forward to continuing that work.
The UUCM Adult Choir will sing a very joyous anthem on Christmas Eve. It will be a "Gloria" (from the Heiligmesse) by Hayden. The piece is very fast and I may slow it down just a hair (that is my prerogative...hehe). I hope you all enjoy it. I wish for everyone a love filled holiday season.

New Member Biographies

Norman Davidson
I grew up in Fargo, ND and came to the Bay Area in 1982. Most of my work has been in academic libraries. I retired last year and recently moved to San Rafael and married Mary Gilstrap. We met at a square dance. She has taken me to Italy and I have taken her to Minnesota. I enjoy riding my bicycle, watching movies, and reading.
Mary Gilstrap
I was born and raised in the Bay Area, and recently married my long-time significant other, Norman Davidson. I majored in liberal arts, but now monitor benefit plan investments for a large corporation. I like to travel, mainly to England and Italy, and would love to spend a year roaming the world. In my free time, I read travel memoirs and mysteries, and I've recently discovered a passion for genealogy.

Calling All Book Lovers!
| |
Want to help launch a "Buck a Book" used book sale fundraiser? This simple fundraiser is also a green way to reuse and share the books we no longer want. This project needs a bookcase (on wheels) or a closed cabinet; a group of volunteers to set up and take down the book table; and a responsible team to manage revenue.
Interested? Please email Jen Gennari if you are interested. |

It's the Year of the BAFS!
| |
And you are invited! BAFS? Well, that is 'Bring a Friend Sundays.' Bring a friend(s) to service at LEAST once a month--or have them bring you! And you can anticipate a reward beyond heaven, on earth: Gourmet dinner at the home of Rev's Chip and Lisa!
Here's how it works.
Please note the BAFS Sundays: First half: Dec 19 & Jan 16 Second half: Feb. 13, Mar. 13, Apr. 10 & May 15
All BAFS will offer an opportunity for any new folks to meet with the Minister, the RE Director, our Board President and other leaders of UUCM after the service.
So start calling your friends and telling them what a great place the UUCM is and inviting these special people to our special Sundays on top of the hill. A fun time will be had by all!
