This is a BAFS Sunday!
Rev. Chip Wright, Linda Haumann, and RE youth with Worship Associate Dick Park

Come enjoy our traditional UUCM making of the soup! Join us for this special-family friendly, intergenerational UUCM tradition.  We will retell the old story of Stone Soup filled with meaning for us today.  Please bring your own bowl or cup to enjoy the soup during the service.  If you'd like to bring a precut vegetable or two for the pot, please have it in the kitchen by 10:30 am.

Contemplative Service

Contemplative Service, November 21st, 9 am

Our Lay led Contemplative Service is from 9:00-9:50 am on Sundays (not available in summer). Readings introduce a silent period to reflect on a topic or idea, followed by an opportunity to share individual thoughts.

November, 2010

The holiday time always seems to arrive too soon as to catch us a bit off guard. May we enter into this season of thanksgiving with gratitude for each other and for our loving UUCM community.

If you are new or visiting we warmly welcome you and your children and hope that you may find a spiritual home with us. Please feel free to talk to me or Rev. Chip about becoming a member of our congregation.

An annual tradition arrives this month on Sunday, November 21st as we celebrate the intergenerational "Stone Soup" service. Our middle school and high school (YRUU) youth help in many ways to make this a special day. From chopping vegetables to making the soup, to setting tables, to telling the story and serving the soup, our youth always shine! Please plan to bring a cup or bowl to use and a vegetable for the soup (to the kitchen no later than 10:30 so it can cook!). Everyone enjoys this service together so there will be no RE classes and limited nursery care.

For the Sunday after Thanksgiving, November 28th, there will be "All Children's Worship" for grades Kindergarten through YRUU in the Wright Room. I lead this special worship for children/youth during the 11am service and in place of RE classes. Nursery/PreK childcare will be provided as well in the nursery with Tina Sarabandi.

If you'd like to get to know more folks and feel more a part of things, please consider joining a small group circle. Contact me at: dre@uumarin.org.

This project needs a bookcase (on wheels) or a closed cabinet; a group of volunteers to set up and take down the book table; and a responsible team to manage revenue.

Interested? Please email Jen Gennari if you are interested.

It's the Year of the BAFS!
friend chineseAnd you are invited!  BAFS?  Well, that is 'Bring a Friend Sundays.'  Bring a friend(s) to service at LEAST once a month--or have them bring you!  And you can anticipate a reward beyond heaven, on earth: Gourmet dinner at the home of Rev's Chip and Lisa!

Here's how it works.

Please note the BAFS Sundays:
First half: Nov. 21 (Stone Soup),  Dec 19 &  Jan 16
Second half: Feb. 13,  Mar. 13,  Apr. 10 &  May 15

All BAFS will offer an opportunity for any new folks to meet with the Minister, the RE Director, our Board President and other leaders of UUCM after the service.

So start calling your friends and telling them what a great place the UUCM is and inviting these special people to our special Sundays on top of the hill.  A fun time will be had by all!

Thank you for all the wonderful feedback! I love knowing you read this (and every issue of) UUCM Weekly News!
