Sunday Worship Service
|
| Sunday, July 18th, 10:00 AM If you don't usually attend UUCM in the summer because you don't think
the sermons are professional, think again. This summer Sharon Wylie,
Starr King seminary student, is doing 6 services and she is excellent.
Her content is good and her delivery is wonderful. Give yourself a treat
and come to one of her remaining 4 services.
"Putting Down Roots"
Sharon
Wylie, Seminarian from Starr King School for the Ministry with Worship
Associate Sally Schroeder
Being
in community sounds good but isn't easy. Being in church community can
be especially challenging because we have high hopes and expectations of
what our shared church life should be like. Let's reflect on the
challenges and rewards of putting down roots together.

UUCM Summer Service Hours
|
| Sunday services (beginning July 4 and ending August 29) start at 10 am. Services are lay led. There is no Contemplative Service. There are no refreshments after the services, just coffee. There is also no choir. Just a bare bones service with a chance to get to know one another better.

Update from the Partner Church Committee
|
| We wish to thank those who have already
contributed to the fund to help bring to Berkeley the whole family of
next year's Balazs scholar, Rev. Levente Lazar, who is also the
minister of our partner Church in Sovata. So far the total amount we have received
is $535. To recap briefly, When Levente applied for
the scholarship, he was told that this year it could only fund the
scholar, spouse and one child. Levente and his wife Erika have two. They felt that they could not leave one behind. We empathize with that,
and along with several other churches who are also partner churches of
the Revs Levente and Erika, we are trying to raise enough money to bring
along the second child. The opportunity for Levente to attend the
Starr King School for the Ministry is a broadening opportunity for
him; we too will be able to meet him and learn more about his church and
members. To donate, please make your check out to UUCM and put "Belazs
Scholar" on the memo line or donate on the UUCM website.

Summer is here and many of us leave town for recreation and
wanderlust. I wish to address a question
that does arise and then pass on some referral information that is good
anytime, but maybe more helpful when loved ones are not available. We wish you to help us help each other by contacting
committee members of those of us in need for whatever reason. We try to pass on that information to the
minister and congregation at services or other means, but due to
confidentiality issues, we do not put this information out on the eblast.
This might be a good time to pass on some resources
available to families or elders. You may
wish to keep this for future reference. The following is a partial list of
local agencies and their contact information.
Family Caregiver Alliance: 434-3388. They even offer respite tothe caregivers.
