A Turn at the Helm: President's Column
|
|
Jennifer Gennari, President UUCM Board of Directors
June, 2010 Hard to believe but it's been one year since Rev. Chip
arrived and I've been at the helm. At the Annual Congregational Meeting May 23,
we voted in new board members and passed a budget with a significantly lower
deficit than last year. For those of you who didn't make it, I urge you to read
the reports to see the amazing work we've done this year. The Board welcomes John Blickensderfer, Carolyn Bopp, and
Lori Smith and this month we say good-bye to Ben Gale, Marge
Hollinger, and Art Rosvold. I can't say enough about the
wisdom and guidance they've provided me and the years of service they have
given to UUCM. Thank you. So many other people deserve our heartfelt thanks. These
people stepped up and chaired key committees: Anne Baele and Carolyn Planakis
(art & aesthetics), Don Beck (stewardship), Lisa Cohen (communications), Joanne
Derby (hospitality), Lee Fitzgerald (leadership development), Rodney Gothelf (worship
associates), Tim Irish (ministry), Carol Littrell (pastoral care), Katie
Mansergh (RE), Scott Merrick and Marilyn Nelson (partner church), Dick Park
(personnel), Bill Pryor (finance), Joan Nelson (social concerns), and Jan and
John Quinley (facility & landscape). Look at what we've done! Thanks also to the auction
organizers, the sock hop planners, the acoUUstic café crew, and of course the
homeless feeders and so many other people who quietly go about donating their
time and love to nurturing this place. In September, we will begin again, welcoming new faces and
new leadership (maybe you!). Together, we can do so much.

have Bill Pryor and Doug Kerr. They are long time UU's and have very
interesting life stories. We'll have something to sip and snack during the

Jim Scott in Concert at UUCM sponsored by our UU AcoUUstic Cafe!
|
| Saturday, June 12th, 7:00 PM
Jim Scott in concert at UUCM sponsored by our UU AcoUUstic Café!
MC and opening for Jim: Rev. Chip Wright
Don't miss this! Jim
Scott is a wonderful songwriter and musician who was a guitarist for
the Paul Winters Consort during its most prolific time, the 1980's. His songs and arrangements have become anthems of that time and our mother earth! He has continued to write, sing and play. Among his songs are "Gather the Spirit" and several others in our UU hymnal. Jim is also one of the creators of our own UUA Green Sanctuary program and a constant voice for the planet and the environment.
The suggested donation is $15 at the door. Wine and beer will be sold by the glass. Corking fee: $15. All the regular AcoUUstic Café's goodies to munch on will be available for a nominal price. Jim will have CDs of his music for sale as well.
So tell your friends, spread the word. Come early to get a good seat. Doors open at 6:30 PM.
