Greetings!
Tomorrow begins the final week of the 2012-13 Patron/Ad Drive. By Friday, Sept. 21, all students should have returned to homeroom teachers their contracts and payment for the required minimum amount of $125 worth of patron or ad space.
Unlike other schools that have many activities-based fundraising efforts, the Patron/Ad Drive is CJ's only student fundraising activity. Your student's participation directly benefits student activities, from athletics to the arts to student-driven publications like the yearbook and CJ's student newspaper, the Ludlow Street Journal.
As a result of last year's drive, more than $100,000 was contributed toward these kinds of activities. We hope to match or improve upon that tremendous effort this school year.
If you have questions about the drive, or need additional contracts, please contact me at any time.
Sincerely,
Caitlin Cronin Bennett, Alumni Relations Coordinator

PARENTS
Attend Junior Religion Class with Your Son or Daughter
Parents of students in Mr. Mominee's Religion 11 class are invited to the first Parent Day on Wednesday, Sept. 19 and Thursday, Sept. 20. This is an opportunity for parents to come to class and join their student in the lessons for the day. Parents are asked to come ready to, "do as the students do." Parent Day is scheduled for periods 2, 3, 4, 6 and 7; attend class at the same period your student does. We will be learning about moral development and making change in our world. If you have questions, email or contact Mr. Mominee at (937) 572-5018. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . Attention Parents of Senior Kairos Participants If your student is signed up to attend the September Kairos Retreat and will need to take any medication while away, please have your doctor complete and return an Authorization for Administration of Medication by School Personnel form to the nurse's office by Monday, Sept. 17. Complete one form for each medication. Authorization from a doctor is required for all medications, even if they are over-the-counter, and all medications are required to be kept by staff. Students are not allowed to carry or self-administer their own medications unless it is an asthma inhaler or epi-pen, in which case an Authorization for Self-Carry Administration of Medication form must be on file with the nurse. All health forms can be downoaded and printed online at cjeagles.org. For more details, please refer to the Medication Administration during Overnight School Trips Procedure, or contact the nurse's office at 461-3740 x227 with any questions. This school year, CJ has adopted a new policy for students who wish to bring an outside guest to a school-sponsored dance. A Dance Guest Request form must now be completed and submitted to the assistant principal's office before a student can purchase tickets for someone not enrolled at CJ. This policy applies for Homecoming (September 29), the Christmas Dance (December 8) and Prom (April 20).
Dance Guest Request forms are available online as well as in the office of students services. As always, all dance attendees must adhere to the rules and dress code listed on pages 34-36 in the Student Handbook regardless of their affiliation with CJ. Founders' Thoughts
"Talk sense to people, religion without doubt, but let us begin by sense; that is the best way to find an entrance to their hearts."
"By educating both the mind and the heart, the school can form people who in turn can work at changing the very structures of their society to ensure a community of justice and reconciliation."

Featured Faculty & Staff Member
Angela Richardson Mason '81

Angela Mason is beginning her eighth year at CJ as an administrative assistant in the office of student services. She also serves as spirit committee moderator and helps staff many other events and activities. During her time at CJ, Angela has chaperoned trips to Spain and Belize, and has volunteered at many Eagles volleyball, football and basketball games.
While growing up in Dayton with 10 brothers and sisters, Angela attended Corpus Christi Catholic School in Five Oaks before graduating from CJ in 1981. She fondly recalls her classes with Bro. Jim Brown and Mrs. Elizabeth Naughton, who taught her everything she would need to know to be successful in the workplace.
Armed with that knowledge, she enjoyed a prosperous 25-year career in the insurance business before joining the CJ staff in April of 2004. She feels blessed to have been able to work with Michael Trainor, then the school's principal, for a very short time before his passing that same year.
Angela and her husband Lonnie are current and former CJ parents, with six children ranging in age from 13 to 25 spread throughout the country, from Dayton to San Francisco to Washington D.C. The couple keeps busy carpooling their youngest children to and from their games, practices and other extra-curricular activities.
During her free moments, Angela enjoys spending time curled up by a fire and watching HGTV or anything related to football. She considers herself an avid fan of the sport -- thanks to her father Bob Richardson -- and roots for the University of Dayton, Ohio State University and the Pittsburgh Steelers.
