Greetings!
Later this month, construction will begin on the final phase of the I-75 modernization project, which will reconfigure the highway through downtown and possibly affect your commute to and from CJ.
This last phase of construction will improve safety, decrease congestion, and remove left-hand entrances and exits while creating one primary ramp to access downtown. The project will also create three continuous lanes of traffic in both directions from Third to Main Streets and upgrade pavement conditions. As a result, northbound exit ramps to First and Third Streets may be closed as soon as September 19. Please plan your routes to and from school accordingly.
This $126 million project is expected to be completed in the fall of 2017. Next week, more information will be available at www.I75commuting.com, on the I-75 hotline at (937) 425-8475, and at one of four public information meetings:
Tuesday, Sept. 18 | Noon
KeyBank Tower Conference Center (directions)
Wednesday, Sept. 19 | 8 a.m. and 6 p.m.
KeyBank Tower Conference Center (morning) &
MVRPC Center for Regional Cooperation (directions)
Wednesday, Sept. 26 | 8:30 a.m.
Dayton City Commission meeting, City Hall (directions)
The Downtown Dayton Partnership is offering to email updates regularly to anyone interested in knowing more. To subscribe, send a message to info@downtowndayton.org with the subject line, "Please sign me up to receive I-75 construction updates."
Street Parking at CJ
Please also be aware that the City of Dayton plans to begin limiting on-street parking on the west side of Perry Street (next to Blue Green Field) sometime in the next two weeks in order to improve traffic flow in that area for our students.
Once the new signs are installed, parking will no longer be available there during school hours. For any student affected by this change, CJ parking passes for Lot D may still be purchased for $60 in the office of student services.
If you have questions or concerns about parking and traffic to and from CJ, please let us know.
Sincerely,
Dan Meixner, President | email

Awarding Credits Per Semester
Beginning this school year, CJ will award class credit on a per semester basis rather than at the completion of a class. Now, students will earn 0.5 credits at the end of the first semester and another 0.5 at the end of the second semester. Both semester grades will be reported on the student's official transcript.
Also as a result, please note that:
- Students' grades will start over each semester.
- Updated GPAs will be calculated at the end of each semester.
- Exemption from final exams may still be granted to a student at the end of the year in a year-long class if he or she has an A average for the entire year and meets the other exam exemption criteria listed on page 19 of the Student Handbook.
- Any student who does not earn both of these credits will need to earn the missing credit through a remedial summer school program.
