CJ Parent Weekly

Department News   |   Calendar   |   Reminders   |   Youth Programs   |   Community Bulletin

Greetings!

What a great day having our students -- your sons and daughters -- back at CJ. Welcome to the start of an exciting school year!

Our halls, filled with new faces and those familiar to us, came alive once again today. The school seemed to radiate with a renewed sense of energy and vigor that returns every August as our students greet each other and their teachers. CJ spirit and sense of community makes this a special place.

Over the next few weeks, there will be opportunities for you to experience the energy and excitement that a new year brings.  Please join us!

  • Attend liturgy every or any morning. Mass starts at 7:15 a.m. with Fr. Matt Robben, CJ chaplain, serving as the celebrant. Join students, teachers, parents, and community members in the CJ chapel (located in the annex near the business office). Parking for morning Mass is available along Perry Street and the north side of Franklin Street.
  • Familiarize yourself with your child's schedule next Tuesday during Meet the Teacher Night. Among other activities, you'll have a chance to see renovations to some of our learning spaces including the library and our new demonstration classroom in room 126. Details are available in the calendar section.
  • Join one of CJ's three dedicated parent groups -- the Co-Educators, Parents of Performing Arts Students, and Blue Green Club. Groups meet once each month to discuss, plan and coordinate activities aimed at enhancing the opportunities available to students. Make an impact as early as this fall by attending any of the September meetings. Find more information below.

There will be many more opportunities throughout the 2012-2013 school year to become an active participant in your student's Catholic educational experience. Please take advantage of them and introduce yourself to other parents as early as possible.

As always, both of us are available to you should you have questions, concerns, or want more information.

God bless and go Eagles!

Sincerely,

Dan Meixner, President | email | ext. 202

John Marshall, Principal | email | ext. 219

Scott Pierce

Scott is entering his 12th year at Chaminade Julienne, and starting his second year in his current role as athletic director. He spent his first 10 years teaching math and coaching football.

Scott was born and raised near Cleveland (Go Browns!), graduating from Valley Forge High School in 1996. He shares his alma mater with CJ's very own Jim Sparrow, social studies teacher. Scott wears his Cleveland sports fandom with pride despite incessant and repeated barbs for being such a loyal fan.

Scott proceeded to Wright State University, graduating in 2000 with a math degree. It is there where Scott met his future bride, Beth. Scott and Beth have three wonderful children: Matthew (8), Charlie (4), and Dani (3).

Currently, Scott is pursuing a graduate degree in sports management around his frequent CJ Athletics Twitter updates. He anticipates completing the degree in April, 2013.
